Handsome 1950-1960’s Mid-Century Modern Tropitone Kahana stackable chaise lounge w/vinyl straps & powder coated aluminum frame. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all frames have been cleaned with soap & water but have some scratches & signs of wear & the straps have some yellowing from sun exposure, lotions, & use. Also, when the chairs are stacked the vinyl straps stretch but when un-stacked the straps return to their original form. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1950-1960’s.

Tropitone was founded in Sarasota, Florida in 1954 by Burt M. Baker, a retired Lockhead Engineer and executive at Grand Rapids Chair Company. Tropitone served the contract market, including hotels, motels, clubs, and resorts with high performing outdoor patio furniture. In the 1960’s they introduced powder coated aluminum finishes to the industry. Utilizing a multi-step wash process that ensures a lasting finish, Tropitone’s aluminum frames prevail under any environmental conditions. Tropitone also pioneered the technique of double-wrapping vinyl straps around the powder coated aluminum frame for extra durability, which continues today. In 1970’s they established operations in Irvine, California which provided a bi-coastal manufacturing to North American customers. In the 80’s they released “Comfort is Key” cushions and sling seating. Tropitone sling seating has the perfect combination of clean lines, designer fabrics and carefree maintenance. In the 90’s EZ Span and Basta Sole Umbrellas were introduced and in the 2000’s woven furniture and Relax Plus cushion seating was created including replications of rattan or wicker outdoor...

Inspired by the Neolithic menhirs of Carnac in the French region of Brittany it is composed of two pairs of matching high- and low-back lounge chairs and a conical table. The base of the table supports all the chairs when stacked into its sculptural shape for storage.
This listing is for one complete Obelisk PLUS a partial set of four chairs and table.
Half the fun of owning the obelisk is actually having the obelisk tower on display. Once it is taken down to be used for seating then the giant sculpture is gone.
Here we offer you the best of both worlds: a seating group of four chairs as well as the stacked Obelisk sculpture, which you won't need to disassemble until you are completely overrun with guests!
The complete Obelisk cosists of two S-chairs, two M-chairs and the cone table.
The near-complete additional Obelisk consists of three of the S-chairs and one M-chair plus the table.

Wonderful Late 20th Century Mid-Century Modern Tropitone Kahana stackable chaise lounge w/vinyl straps & powder coated aluminum frame. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all frames have been cleaned with soap & are in good stable condition but do have some nicks, scratches, & dings to the frame finish. The straps have some yellowing from sun exposure, lotions, & use. Also, when the chairs are stacked the vinyl straps stretch but when un-stacked the straps return to their original form. This is a FANTASTIC vintage Kahana chaise lounge chair by Tropitone composed of a commercial quality textured powder coated aluminum frame, smooth vinyl straps with a double wrapping technique exclusive to Tropitone enhancing durability and comfort, a height adjustable backrest with five different lean choices, and it bears a premier construction design boasting sleek geometric lines, elegance, functionality, ergonomic comfort, and a weather resilient finish ready to take on all of the elements! The color is somewhere between the current “Textured Sonora” and “Textured Shell” and it is conveniently STACKABLE!!! Whether on your patio, surrounding a firepit, aside the tiki bar, or lined along the poolside… this marvelous mid-century modern chaise is the one you need. Much like its island beach namesake, this Kahana vinyl strap chaise lounge chair is ready to complete your outdoor paradise.
Tropitone was founded in Sarasota, Florida in 1954 by Burt M. Baker, a retired Lockhead Engineer and executive at Grand Rapids Chair Company. Tropitone served the contract market, including hotels, motels, clubs, and resorts with high performing outdoor patio furniture. In the 1960’s they introduced powder coated aluminum finishes to the industry. Utilizing a multi-step wash process that ensures a lasting finish, Tropitone’s aluminum frames prevail under any environmental conditions. Tropitone also pioneered the technique of double-wrapping vinyl straps around the powder coated aluminum frame for extra durability, which continues today. In 1970’s they established operations in Irvine, California which provided a bi-coastal manufacturing to North American customers. In the 80’s they released “Comfort is Key” cushions and sling seating. Tropitone sling seating has the perfect combination of clean lines, designer fabrics and carefree maintenance. In the 90’s EZ Span and Basta Sole Umbrellas were introduced and in the 2000’s woven furniture and Relax Plus cushion seating was created including replications of rattan or wicker outdoor...
