This superb George I period antique longcase clock by Daniel Delander is cased in highly figured walnut veneer of lovely colour and patina. Standing on a double plinth there is a panelled base and moulded trunk door. The pull forward hood is flanked by quarter columns with brass capitals. The case retains the original caddy top surmounted by two finials. The square dial has an applied chapter ring with cherubin spandrels. The dial centre is finely matted with an engraved date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. The original blued steel hands appear to be original and are finely wrought and pierced. Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this one of a kind, fully restored, hand carved antique English longcase grandfather clock case depicting a King’s Sovereign portrait Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price What a find, I purchased this piece maybe 8-10 years ago and it has sat waiting all this time for restoration, whomever removed the clock movement did so with little care and damaged the top of the piece, as such it has been fully restored to gallery condition and is now ready to accommodate a new movement I saved this piece because clearly the carving is very old and was conducted by an exceedingly fine craftsman, the Sovereign portrait of a King is very Regal and adds a sense of occasion to such a piece, the case is also decorated with what looks like English Tudor Rose...
