Sol Sanctuary Floor Lamp with Hand-Blown Opaline Bulb
Located in London, GB
The Sol sanctuary floor lamp is an ode to French architectural theorist Etienne-Louis Boullée's monument to Newton. A spiritual shrine that turns out was impossible to build. Shaw Liu finds inspiration in this unrealised architecture, particularly its spherical body, which was intended to mimic the effects and day and night. It is the balanced art of light, dark and the in between. This art deco light features a long, mirrored body, an exploration of the tangible and intangible. Reflections are phantom-like and can be inconsistent. Almost hallucinogenic, Sanctuary's hollow dome symbolises the eternal spirit of Newton, whilst its light is akin to a glowing moon. Best placed as a floor light, its interior becomes aglow with the orb sat within it. This piece is an evolution of Sanctuary Illusion, which features a projecting light bulb. Reminiscent of light bollards, crafted in hand-polished stainless steel. It is made to be paired with an expertly crafted hand-blown opaline sphere bulb which radiates like the rising sun. Striking and truly distinctive, it belongs in the company of equally remarkable objects, including the homes of the audacious, and as lighting for art...

Storyteller: Mr. Anderson, a successful businessman, and his daughter, Lily, made their home in a stately rural manor. Over the years, Mr. Anderson amassed a collection of rare paintings and priceless vases, which he proudly displayed in his home. Mr. Anderson was perusing an antique shop one day when he stumbled upon a pair of gorgeous French opaline glass lusters. These goblet-shaped lusters were gilded in pink and white-hued glass and hand-made in France between 1850 and 1900. Mr. Anderson bought the lusters without hesitating and carried them home to add to his collection. The moment he set them on the mantel in the living room, they commanded everyone's attention. Pink and white opaline glass sparkled in the sunshine, creating a cozy atmosphere. Like a magnet, Lily was pulled to the lusters and stared at them in awe for hours. She was captivated by the way the light reflected off the glass and highlighted the fine features of the pattern. Seeing her interest, her father proceeded to educate her about the origins of opaline glass and the meaning of its lusters. They put their heads together and discovered that opaline glass was specially designed to create elaborate chandeliers...

Late 19th Century Milky White Opaline Bohemian Gilded Box, France, 1850-1920
Located in Queens Village, NY
This antique Bohemian opaline glass box is a work of art that has withstood the test of time. Because of the beautiful gold gilding that covers all four sides, this exquisite piece of milky white glass is a treasure for collectors and art lovers. This box, handcrafted in France between 1850 and 1920, is an excellent example of the country's ever-popular handicraft. Despite having lost some of its gilding, the glass is in excellent condition, with no apparent chips or cracks. The classic appearance of the box will give character to any environment, and it is ideal for storing valuables. Because of its exceptional beauty and elegance, this antique box is a must-have for every history buff or lover of great craftsmanship. We are selling this beautiful art piece on different platforms; please check availability before purchasing. More photos may be provided if necessary. Storyteller: A young American soldier called James served in France during World War Two. As he strolled down the street, he saw an antique shop with a stunning opaline glass box in the window. Even though the glass had lost its gold coating, it was still in fine condition. James wasted no time in entering the store to inquire about the mysterious box. Madame Dupont claims the box, which is flawless, was manufactured in France some time between 1850 and 1920. James bought the crate because he wanted a piece of French heritage in his home. James kept the box on his bunk and used it to pass the time in his leisure time while stationed in France. James found comfort in the box since it brought back memories of France's pre-war splendor and culture. James was tragically abducted while on duty. He reflected on the times when the box had helped him relax while he was locked up. It was something he desperately wanted to get his hands on again. James had all but given up hope of ever being released from the camp. And yet, as he was being led back to his cell, he recognized something: a milky white opaline glass box...
