Unique Pair of Contemporary Art Painted Fiberglass Boy Sculptures Signed
Unique Pair of Contemporary Art Painted Fiberglass Boy Sculptures Signed

Unique Pair of Contemporary Art Painted Fiberglass Boy Sculptures Signed

Located in Dallas, TX

Presenting a unique pair of contemporary art painted fiberglass boy sculptures signed… by the artist … we think “Laqi”. These sculptures are a pair of the ‘cutest’ pieces of contemporary sculpture that we have seen for a while. We really wish we could identify and learn more about the artist, but what we do know is that these belonged to a former artist and art and collectibles dealer in New Orleans. She treasured these and they came with her to Dallas. She was very active in the New Orleans art scene in the early 1990s. The sculptures appear to also have a practical function as planters. One features a boy’s denim jeans and waistcoat in a standing position and the other a boy’s denim overalls in a seated position. Both are made of fiberglass which has been painted and textured. Exceptional detail to the outfit. Right down to the buttons and clasps and the sneakers and shoelaces. Mottled green and black in color. We cannot find anything quite like these anywhere!! Specific provenance: These sculptures were acquired by Ms. Naomi Baggett in or circa 1990-1999. Originally from North Carolina, an Air Force Veteran and JAG Advocate, Ms. Baggett after her service moved to New Orleans and worked as a paralegal until setting up and operating an Art & Curiosities Store in the famous New Orleans Hotel Montleone between 1990 and 1995. Her store was called ‘Baggetelle’. It was featured in various industry magazines and hotel documentation. The store specialized in selling miniature French Quarter Houses which were used as jewelry boxes. Ms. Baggett was an artist herself and handmade and hand painted these houses along with a partner. She received orders for these miniature houses...

Ruler Selenite with an 18th century Italian gold leaf fragment and natural forming baroque pearls on a lucite base. Ruler selenite or "selenite logs" are single, prismatic selenite crystals from Morocco that were formed in extensive beds by the evaporation of ocean brine. This mineral is characterized by a silky, pearly luster called satin spar. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she created the piece and the period shows that the Italian fragment is originally 18th century. Interi transforms Italian artifacts...

Ronan Bouroullec Baton Candle Holder For Bd Barcelona

By Ronan Bouroullec

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona

Ronan Bouroullec Baton Candle Holder For Bd Barcelona The Baton collection was designed by Ronan Bouroullec and is produced by BD. Its sublime simplicity carves around the shape of a cane. The Baton finds its place in a room as a screen divider, a candleholder, a vase, a valet stand, a side table or a mirror. It strikes a balance between a fluent, curving line and a slim and unimposing frame. As a standalone or group, the Baton represents Bouroullec’s emphasis on refining function and form. The system changes interiors. It generates an intimate feeling in the home or a shared space, with an appealing design that is subtle and concise. A minimal frame with multiple uses. Dimensions and technical drawing Ø 12,5 x h.60 cm Ø 5 x h.23,5 in Materials and finishes Base in gravity die casting steel, polished and powder coated in textured black. Inox steel polished curved tube. Steel rod fixed to the base, powder coated in black matt. Different options available for the fabric space divider. He went to the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art when he was 17. The following year he exhibited for the first time at the Salon du Meuble in Paris. His brother joined him in Paris in 1998, and he opened a small studio in 1999, the same year he was awarded the New Designer Award by the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec began partnerships with names such as Vitra, and their designs and ongoing partnership led to numerous other collaborations with international design companies. Their designs have spanned multiple fields of expression, from craftsmanship to mass production, beyond the realm of furniture design into technology and art.
