Opal
Located in New York, NY
Opal Tsehay Mewcha, Wegeltena, Delanta Woreda, South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia Measures: 14.4 cm tall x 11 cm wide Precious opals are a hydrated amorphous form of silica (amorphous meaning a non-crystallized solid), unlike crystalline forms of silica, which are classed as minerals. Australia is the locality most associated with precious opal. The precious opals of Ethiopia were only discovered recently in 2008. Opals are formed over thousands of years when rain frees spherical silica particles from sandstone. These microscopic particles spread deep into underground cavities and are then compressed into a closely-packed interlaced structure. When miners bring them forth from the earth to the surface, sunlight travels through this microstructure creating the dazzling kaleidoscope of flashing rainbow colors that we see here. This opal may be unique. The colors are like no other we have seen from Ethiopia. There are several names given to opal (Black Opal, Boulder Opal, Fire opal, etc.). This piece begins an entirely new genre - Candy Opal.

Khabia Freckles Terracotta Jar Made of Clay, Handcrafted by the Potter Raja
Located in Marseille, FR
- Handbuilt freckles terracotta jar - made of clay collected from the potter's surroundings. - made in the Moroccan Rif mountains by the potter Raja. Approximate measurements: 13.4 x 11.4 x 15.8 in // 34 x 29 x 40 cm; weight 22.5 lb // 10.2 kg Handmade: Variation is to be expected, each piece differs in color, size, shape and decorations due to its handmade nature and natural pigments. Memòri is about simplicity, imperfections, and embracing the "flaws". Each piece is fired in an open fire - a dug hole during more than 12 hours, which makes unexpected and surprising results, including smoke marks on some pieces. This means that each piece is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. Care instructions: The ceramics are not glazed. We advise you to keep it as a decorative object if you want to conserve the original aspect. About the savoir-faire, the modeled pottery The potters of northern Morocco perpetuate the ancient art of modeled pottery, which first appeared around 6,000 BC. The techniques and patterns used today are very close to those of their origins. This ancestral know-how, which has disappeared around the Mediterranean, still lives in the pre-Rif. Today, these potters are the guardians of this ancient art. The modeled pottery according to the ancestral art...

Large Polished Labradorite Freeform
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
A spectacular large polished labradorite freeform sourced from Madagascar. Characterised by its iridescent colours, principally blue, this huge high grade labradorite is a stunning specimen, the lustrous colours fluctuating as it is observed from different angles. It is freestanding, making a striking sculptural piece for an interior, with a polished face to one side and a naturalistic reverse. Labradorite is named after the region of its discovery at Paul Island in the Canadian province of Labrador, first discovered here in 1770. Madagascar is currently the main source of labradorite. To expose its stunning colours, the stone is highly polished, revealing its natural beauty. This in itself is a talented skill, with only a small percentage of labradorites yielding positive results, making this specimen a rare discovery. We also have two other large labradorite...

Ebony Wood Hand Carved African Elephant
Located in Moreno Valley, CA
Hand carved wood ebony African elephant. Mid-20th Century Hand-Carved African Elephant Sculpture in Solid Ebony Wood Hand-carved African elephant sculpture, crafted from dense solid ebony wood, renowned for its rich, deep hue and natural sheen. This mid-20th-century piece captures the power and majesty of the African elephant. Handcrafted carved wooden elephant, likely an African Elephant due to the large ears. It appears to be made from a dark wood, possibly ebony, which is a popular material for such carvings. Ebony is a dense and valuable wood, making these carvings desirable for collectors. Hand-carved by a skilled artisan, likely of East or Central African origin, the sculpture showcases traditional carving techniques passed down through generations. Its smooth polish and heavy weight reflect the high quality of the ebony used—a wood celebrated not only for its beauty but also for its durability and rarity. This piece serves as both a decorative object and a cultural artifact, ideal for collectors of African art, lovers of wildlife sculptures, or those seeking a unique focal point for an interior space. Dimensions: Height: 10 in. Width: 9.5 in. Depth: 3.25 in. (Insert exact dimensions) Origin: Africa (likely Kenya, Tanzania, or Congo region) Circa: 1950s–1970s In Chinese culture, the elephant symbolizes good luck, prosperity, peace, and happiness. Placing an elephant figurine in the home or office is believed to attract good fortune and ward off evil. Elephant statues are also associated with wisdom, family unity, and personal strength. A feng shui elephant is a powerful symbol that can invite auspicious energy into your home. The elephant is a venerated animal in Asian cultures because of their intelligence, physical prowess, and memory. They symbolize wisdom, strength, and good luck. The elephant's trunk is where luck and energy are kept. It is a symbol of wisdom and understanding that can assist you in quickly overcoming a range of difficulties. The downward trunk elephant is believed to maintain balance at work and keep good energy levels up at home. Symbolism: * Wisdom and Strength: In Asian cultures, elephants are venerated for their intelligence, physical prowess, and memory, symbolizing wisdom, strength, and good luck. * Good Fortune and Prosperity: In Chinese culture, the elephant symbolizes good luck, prosperity, peace, and happiness. Placing an elephant figurine in the home or office is believed to attract good fortune. * Protection and Harmony: Elephant statues are associated with wisdom, family unity, and personal strength.
