In an era when artists were capturing the exoticism and athleticism of modern dancers, such as Richmond Barthé's depiction of Féral Benga dancing with a large, curved sword or Paul Colin's drawings of Josephine Baker with her skirt of bananas, this sensuous presentation of a nude male dancer with a long spear stands out. The bronze was sculpted in 1926 by Brenda Putnam, who is best known for a series of bronzes showing children at play, often placed in gardens and parks. However, Putnam was ambitious to do more, leaving academic sculpture behind as she collaborated with architect Paul Philippe Cret to create the Puck Fountain for the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., executed a number of portraits in bronze, exhibited at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles, and created "The Crest" -- consisting of a a large male nude swimming...

Beautiful antique pair of candleholders created with Art Nouveau patterns at the Tiffany Studios in New York city, circa 1903. They was crafted under the directory presidency of Charles T. Cook (1902-1907) during the Edwardian era (1901-1911) in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with a fluted repousse trumpet plain patterns. They are convertible and can be dismounted to be used as a single or with three candles. This extremely rare pieces are from a very small edition of only 20 pieces and was carefully crafted with beautiful and elegant Art Nouveau patterns in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with very high polished finish.
As with all Tiffany pieces, the quality and design are beyond compare. Exceptional and rare example of Tiffany's finest work.
Weight: Combined of 1796.3 grams or 57.72 troy ounces
Measurements: 12.5 by13.6 by 5.3 inches (31.75 x 34.55 x 13.46 Cm).
Hallmarks: Both are stamped at the bottom part, with the, maker's mark, the director's mark "C" Charles T. Cook, the model 4619 and pattern number and signed in full, "TIFFANY & CO. 13434 MAKERS 4619 STERLING SILVER
.925/1000 C". In addition, they are hand engraved with the maker's initials D.K and the inventory set number 02/20.
Note: This model 13434 was designed by Charles L. Tiffany and was first produced in the 1897. This is the number 2 of the edition of 20 pieces produced.

The monumental studio pottery ceramic vase is decorated with crystalline glaze in striking, dark red and beige palette. The vase was hand thrown on a wheel; beige color crystals on ombre colored base, shifting from purplish tones on top to deep, dark red on the bottom, were grown in a kiln during a very long, controlled firing. Each crystalline piece is unique due to the nature of the glaze. The vase was allowed to develop an abundance of distinct, graphic crystals, creating a free-flowing abstract pattern and adding rich texture to the minimally shaped piece.
