Ark#3 Unique Mix-Wood Sculpture by Po Shun Leong
By Po Shun Leung
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
The Ark collection by Po Shun Leung originated from his dreaming of ocean liners. When the sirens screamed in London during the Second World War, the Leung family headed underground for the deep shelters to avoid German bombs. To escape the dangers in 1944, his father sent him as a 3 year old child to live with a carpenter in the countryside until the end of the war. The carpenter had a hobby of making model ocean liners. One of them, a majestically long vessel...

27"x27" Stainless Steel Wall Sculpture. #197
By Kue King
Located in Blowing Rock, NC
Measures: 27" x 27" x 3" Stainless steel. This accent wall sculpture is created using stainless steel wire. Use multiple pieces to create a large installation or to surround a feature. The polished stainless steel gives the sculpture a shine, reflectivity, and mirrored finish that adds sparkle to the room and picks up on colors that surround the piece. Metal reflections highlight the feathery radius and create gentle shadows that deepen and project the sculpture into the wall. The radiating central bundles create a kaleidoscopic shadow effect that changes with viewing angle and lighting. Brightly lit, drama and strength dominates through reflection and shadow. By lowering the lighting the same piece becomes soft and alluring. Kue uses pliers to cut hundreds of wire strands and then ties them together using thin brass wire to form bundles. These bundles are woven together in a mirrored way to build the strength and structure of the piece. Moving outward in process, each reflection becomes unique yet similar. The radiating branches flow outward, intersecting and spreading until the sculpture is complete. Kue uses an aesthetic reminiscent of trees, electricity, and light to create sculptures of peace and beauty. Adults and children alike see snowflakes, trees, flowers, ocean creatures, a twinkling jewel. His work has been compared to the tied wire sculptures of Ruth Asawa and the wall mounted sculptures of Curtis Jere due to their style, shine, and placement similarities. Answers to common questions: - Each work can be hung horizontally or vertically. - You are working directly with the artist and his partner, not a gallery. - His full collection is on 1stdibs. Full commissions are possible but rare. - The material, size, and patina are customizable, but it takes time. - All sculptures are suitable for indoors or outdoors. - They are lightweight for a metal sculpture, comparable in weight to a similar sized mirror and just as easy to hang. Acquiring a Kue King sculpture is an event like no other. Some collectors know just what they want and buy immediately. With others we arrange a video chat or phone call to talk about art, get to know each other, and review your placements and sculpture interests. It’s up to you. Kue says, ”My work is painstakingly birthed out of me with all I know of beauty. They are my meditations, my passion, my babies. When they find the right collector and home, they shine and radiate a new vibration that is in tune with its new environment.” Testimonials from collectors: Katie, Ponte Vedra...
