A small porcelain basket in Rococo Revival style with scroll and shell moulded borders, pierced handles on both ends, a pale yellow twig handle, a French blue ground with pale yellow foliage and a fine landscape painting in the centre. This would make a perfect gift as a trinket dish - these baskets were often used to collect visting cards from guests. Pattern unknown Year: ca 1830 Size: 17.5cm (6.8”) long, 9cm (3.5”) tall Condition: excellent The Samuel Alcock factory was operative in Staffordshire between 1822 and 1856, after which it was bought by Sir James Duke and Nephews. The factory started as a partnership between the young Samuel Alcock and the older Ralph Stevenson, who provided the factory and capital. Alcock quickly took the factory to great heights, building one of the biggest factories of its time. Alcock jumped on the new Rococo Revival fashion and served a huge new middle class market. An 18th century balloon shaped bracket or table clock by John Leroux of Charing Cross, dating from circa 1790. The waisted case surmounted by a brass pineapple finial over a drum housing the movement. The dial is behind a hinged convex glazed cast brass bezel to front and brass carrying handles to sides, over hipped concave-sided section forming the base. The front has an applied mount of a sunburst mask, the rear with keyhole shaped door incorporating fine scroll-pierced sound fret set within the frame of the case, on generous cavetto moulded skirt base incorporating break-arch recess to apron and with ogee bracket feet. The five knopped pillar twin fusee bell striking movement with rounded angles to the rectangular plates and anchor escapement regulated by a long bob pendulum with an effective length of approximately 11.5 inches, the backplate signed J. An exceptional, fine and impressive set of antique George V English sterling silver, enamel and glass scent bottles; an addition to our silver mounted glass collection. This exceptional antique George V scent bottle container has a cylindrical form. The surface of the body is embellished with exceptional pale blue guilloche enamel accented with violet floral garlands above a transitional band of purple enamel incorporating minute floral motifs. The cover is ornamented with further enamel decoration with violet floral garlands suspended from a scrolling trellis style border to the upper portion. The upper plateau of the cover is encircled with further enamel ornamentation reflecting the design to the lower portion of the body. The cover opens to reveal the original three glass perfume bottles and stoppers. Each bottle is fitted with a silver mount ornamented with a band of pale blue enamel. These antique perfume bottles are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior bearing the retailer's mark 'Diamond Merchants, Searle & Co Ltd, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, 79 Lombard St, London'. The cover of the box secures with a decorative trefoil hinged catch. The shaped glass body of each antique perfume bottles is embellished with stepped ornamentation to the upper portion. The interior of the sterling silver chamber, cover and mounts to the bottles retain the original gilding. Condition These antique scent bottles are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The glass perfume bottles are in perfect condition. The original gilding shows signs of wear in keeping with age. There is a slight surface abrasion to the enamel at the top rim of the container. The interior of the original box is in excellent condition, in keeping with age; the exterior surface is in excellent presentation condition. Full import hallmarks struck to the underside of the sterling silver container and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks show signs of wear in keeping with age but remain legible. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these antique enamel perfume bottles...
