Rare Japanese antique wooden god statue /12th century/small wabi-sabi figurines
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
I was able to obtain a very rare item. This is a sculpture of the god ``Shinzo''. "Shin" = God "zo" = statue Since ancient times in Japan, it has been believed that gods reside in all things in the universe, and there have been many shrines. In the 6th century, Buddhism was introduced and gradually spread throughout Japan. Around the 8th century, the idea that gods follow the teachings of Buddha spread. Until the Edo period, God and Buddha became one and the idea of ``Shinto and Buddhism syncretism'' was established. This statue was created during such a history. Originally, the image of God was invisible and could not be understood as something tangible. However, with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan, idol worship was also introduced, and the idea that the gods follow the teachings of Buddha was also propagated at the same time in order to spread the teachings of Buddhism. Around that time, around the 9th century, the first statues of gods...

Old Japanese Wooden Buddha Statue /Edo Period/ Wooden Figurine /Yakushi Nyorai
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
This is a wooden carved Buddha made in the late Edo period (1800s). This Buddha statue is Yakushi Nyorai. The Tathagata is the highest enlightened being in the Buddhist world. The Yakushi Nyorai is said to be the Buddha of medicine, and holds a pot of medicine in his left hand. This Buddha statue also holds a pot of medicine in his left hand. Also, his right hand is missing, and his right palm is normally facing the opponent. This Buddha statue is made of one piece of wood and is made of cedar wood and cypress. It is a simple carving, and it is thought that it was probably carved not by a Buddhist sculptor, but by a monk at a temple or a villager who could carve Buddha statues...

Japanese Antique Wooden Buddha Statue/Yakushi Nyorai, 18th-19th Century/Edo
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
I think it is a Buddhist statue from the middle to late Edo period (18th to 19th century). This type of Buddha statue is called Yakushi Nyorai. It is characterized by its appearance holding a bowl of medicine in its left hand. It exists as a medicinal Buddha that gives medicine and saves people's diseases. It is the highest Buddhist statue in Buddhism. It's small, but it has a very beautiful expression and is carefully carved. It is likely that this small Buddha statue...

It is a wooden Buddha statue made in the Edo period in Japan. And this pose is called "Shaka Nyorai". It is the highest Buddhist statue in Buddhism. Japanese Small Antique Wood Carving Buddha / 1600-1750 / Bodhisattva
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
It is a wooden Buddha statue made in Japan from the 1600s to the 1750s. It is from the Edo period. It is a type of Buddha statue called Bodhisattva, and it is a Buddha who will save you immediately when people in the world ask for salvation. Although small, the expression is very beautiful and it is carefully carved. Perhaps this small-sized Buddha statue was cherished at a small shrine or dedicated to a temple. It is darkened by oil smoke. It won't stick to your hands. Also, the hand part of the Buddha statue is missing. Sculptures are often rough in the late Edo period after the 19th century. However, although this is a small Buddha statue...
