This porcelain double gourd vase is a wonderful decorative object realized by a Japanese artist during the Edo period in the early 19th century. Painted with polychrome enamels, it shows on the body a bottom with alveoli on which Stand circular reserves decorated with real and fantastic animals seems to reproduce the zodiac signs. Furthermore, the original blanket is decorated with small sloping triangles and three bands with geometric and floral decorations. At the center of the base "Kutani Fuku" the relief mark. Provenance: Sotheby's Auction, Olympia London, April 23, 2002, lot 254; Private collection, Milan.
