Monumental Italian Murano glass ceremonial presentation goblet chalice crafted during the nineteen seventies showcases intricate Venetian Renaissance revival virtuosity and historic civic iconography. Handcrafted in Italy, this statuesque standing vessel rises from a circular, domed pedestal foot into an extraordinary architectural baluster stem modeled after the celebrated seventeenth-century calici a morise (winged goblets). Crowning the ornate lower architecture, the stem elevates an expansive, faceted conical cup that tapers down to a delicate knopped collar and flares upward to a wide, fire-polished rim. Master glassmakers mouth-blew and assembled each component freehand at the furnace (a mano volante), executing the primary vessel and base in weightless, high-clarity Venetian crystal (cristallo). The complex vertical stem features two tiers of hand-tooled glass wings embellished with pincered crests (morise) and punctuated with ruby-red glass accents (rosso rubino). Anchored at the center is a radiant medallion disc richly suffused with genuine twenty-four-karat gold leaf inclusions (foglia d'oro), embossed in high relief with the winged Lion of Saint Mark (Leone Marciano / Leone di San Marco)—the revered patron symbol of the Venetian Republic.
