An Exceptionally Rare George II Antique Silver "Acorn" Nutmeg Grater Made in London circa 1750 by Samuel Meriton This very rare example is modelled to simulate an acorn and is decorated with reeded and beaded bands to simulate the shape of an acorn. The cover unscrews to reveal the removable steel grater and this piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour. The cover is very well marked with SM for Samuel Meriton and this is the manner in which acorn nutmeg graters are unusually marked, with the maker's mark only. The Nutmeg Grater is realistically modelled as a Neo Classical urn and is decorated with reeded bands and a band of fine beading on the domed, pull-off, cover.
