This large antique silver plated serving tray is signed by an unknown maker and presumed to have originated from England and dating to approximately 1920 and done in a Victorian style. The outside rim is decorated with a leaf and flower motif and accented by the diamond pierced sides, and scroll worked handles. The surface of the tray is engraved with stylized leaves and flowers and the tray is hallmarked on the back and identified as 'Sheffield Reproduction'.

This extremely rare partial set of dinner service was produced at the Royal Vienna Factory in 1851 under the direction of Baron Leithner, ten years before the factory closed. During Leithner's direction, the factory and it's artists were still known for their splendid and expensive gilding which is displayed on each of the pieces in this set. This circa 1880 Pinder, Bourne & Co brown transferware 15.5" by 12.5" oval earthenware platter features the Aesthetic Movement pattern, "Nipon". The asymmetrical pattern includes a Japonisme ribbon cartouche overlaying a dense grouping of cherry blossoms growing on leafy branches. One side of the ribbon bears a repeating geometric Greek Key pattern, while the other bears waterside images including a pair of swans swimming amidst cattails and reeds. The Victorian earthenware platter is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs. As an antique, the piece shows signs of age including fine crazing to the glaze, light marks to the face, and shelf wear to the foot.
