Mazer Chair by Tom Fereday

Located in Geneve, CH
Mazer Chair by Tom Fereday
Dimensions: W 35 x D 35 x H 55 cm
Materials: Solid Travertine.
Weight: 130 Kg.
MAZER COLLECTION:
Mazer represents a series of geometric sculptures, each a celebration of the fundamental beauty and natural variation of stone. Strict brutalist forms of the table and seating collection are juxtaposed by soft organic cutaways carving through the porous stone surfaces, revealing the natural beauty and character of travertine. Named after the medieval term ‘Mazer’ meaning bowl, the collection presents subtle organic forms proportioned for table and seating function designed for permanence. Porous formations of the stone’s structure act as an intentional disruption to the clean geometric forms of the series adding character and intrigue. The limited edition series was crafted from travertine and locally produced in Italy from a combination of machine and traditional hand made processes, each piece exhibiting its own unique characteristics and form with no one piece alike. Mazer is designed by Australian designer Tom Fereday exemplifying Fereday’s desire to honour materiality, combining form and function to produce enduring works.
Tom Fereday develops products based on the principle of honest design, conveying a design process which celebrates the materials and manufacturing processes behind furniture and products, to design from the inside out. By using the materials and environment as a positive design constraint we guide intelligent and thoughtful design outcomes which connect with people through natural materials, tactile finishes and unique design. We strive to create enduring designs which are meaningful to people and their environment.
Born in Australia, Tom Fereday grew up in England studying at the Wimbledon School of Art before moving to Sydney to complete an honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Working across europe and Australia Tom Fereday went onto found his sole practice in 2012.

TH Brown Danish Bar Stool in Ash Teak Finish, Australian Iconic Designer Piece
By Peter Brown (Australian)
Located in Adelaide, SA
The TH Brown Danish bar stool was designed by Peter Brown and first manufactured from early 1960, and remains an iconic, timeless Australian design masterpiece to this day. The beautifully sculpted timber seat back, angled legs and hand stitched upholstery remain as contemporary as the day they were first designed.
These iconic stools are the among the most coveted Australian mid-century pieces ever produced. The original examples have become heirlooms and are seen in many magazines, exhibitions, and design showrooms around the world.
Hand finished by expert craftsmen it features solid timber frame, the finest Italian leather and the highest quality materials throughout. All timbers and leathers are ethically sourced.
These stools will be a design statement in any contemporary or mid-century themed kitchen, bar, or office. They are individually numbered and certified, offering the purchaser an ideal heirloom piece for future generations.
TH Brown remains Australia’s oldest operating furniture brand - established in Adelaide, South Australia in 1911. From the 1950's, TH Brown produced many of the most sought-after mid-century furniture pieces ever produced in Australia.
The most famous designs were the iconic ranges of Bar Stools, Coffee Tables and Dining Chairs, amongst many others - produced in Adelaide from the mid 1950's through to the 1980's. Our most collected pieces have now been re-issued for the world to enjoy!
Every piece is produced under the careful eye of the 3rd generation of TH Brown’s family and each piece is hand finished to the same exacting standards as the original craftsmen.
These unmistakable pieces are not replicas and remain the gold-standard of Australian furniture...

Large Aboriginal Painting "Wati Kutjara" by Yannima Tommy Watson
Located in Atlanta, GA
A large and striking aboriginal painting by celebrated Australian artist Yannima Tommy Watson (1935s-2017; Pitjantjatjara people from Australia's central western desert). Stretched and ready to display (no frame).
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Year of Creation: 2013
Title: Wati Kutjara
An important aboriginal dreamtime story from the Western Australia (the song line is also known as Two Men Dreaming), the narrative is about two young lizard-men travelling all over the Western Desert. They covered a vast landscape from Kimberley in the north to Southern Australia. The two brothers often took the form of wind and left songs in their epic journey to enlighten the people they encountered with rituals and knowledge. As magical ancestral beings, they destroyed evil spirits and created sacred objects across all over the Western Dessert.

About the artist (courtesy of Kate Owen and Japingka Gallery)
Yannima Tommy Watson was a celebrated Pitjantjatara artist, born around 1935 in the desert west of Irrunytju in Western Australia. Tommy was a Law man of Karima skin group, and his traditional names were Yannima and Pikarli relate to specific sites near his birthplace at Anumarapiti, west of Irrunytju.
As a young man Tommy learned the bush skills of hunting and gathering, living off the land. In these years his physical and spiritual knowledge of the land was deeply embedded in his life.
Tommy Watson first met white people at Ernabella Mission in the 1940s. He then spent decades working as a stockman and laborer on cattle stations. Not until 2001 when he was in his mid 60s, did Tommy Watson pick up a paint brush and painted his first picture at Irrunytju art center established by a small group of artists.
Watson's work became quickly recognized for his powerful use of colors and his mesmerizing creation of energetic movement. He exhibited in Alice Springs at Desert Mob and as a finalist at the Telstra NATSIAA Art Awards in Darwin. With his work becoming highly collectable, Tommy soon entered into an exclusive representation agreement with Jon Ioannou of Agathon Gallery. This arrangement marked the start of a second phase of Tommy's career and saw the creation of a large body of outstanding artworks which were to further propel Tommy into the upper echelons of Australian indigenous artists. This painting was created toward the end of that phase.
In 2005, Tommy was commissioned, along with Ningura Napurrula, Lena Nyadbi, Michael Riley, Judy Watson, John Mawurndjul, Paddy Bedford...

Fossil Glossopteris Fern Leaf Plate & Surmounted Etched Brass Stand
Located in Scorton, GB

T
he Glossopteris plate is excellent fossil preservation of the archetypical ‘sage’ shaped leaf embedded within the once soft matrix, creating a definitive display of leaves, and the reverse of this plate has a similarly beautiful display of Glossopteris Leaves exhibiting a lovely palette of colour.
Plants are multicellular, photosynthetic eucaryotes. The oldest known land plant body fossils are Silurian in age. Fossil root traces of land plants are known back to the Ordovician era. The Devonian was the critical time interval during which land plants flourished, and Earth experienced its first “greening” of the land. The earliest land plants were small and simple and probably remained close to bodies of water. By the Late Devonian, land plants had evolved large, tree-sized bodies, and the first-ever forests appeared.
Glossopteris is probably the most familiar fossil leaf...
