An elegant French side chair from around 1860, with a richly carved dark wooden frame, decorative metal ornaments and fresh red velvet upholstery. It is a characterful example of the eclectic, opulent furniture made in France during the Second Empire, and it brings instant warmth and a touch of theatre to any room. The tall back is framed by carved uprights and topped with a shaped crest rail, which carries a set of initials, a lovely personal detail that hints at the chair's history.
