'Coronado' two seat sofa in beautiful cognac leather, designed by Tobia Scarpa and manufactured by the Italian firm, B&B Italia, circa 1975.
The seating are made with a then revolutionary kind of molded polyurethane foam for excellent support and comfort. The 'Coronado', was the first ever seating to be built using this new technique: the foam molds were assembled around an iron frame, resulting in a sturdy yet extremely comfortable product.
The present two seater sofa offered in its original cognac leather upholstery preserved in excellent condition. Labels affixed on both pieces read 'Coronado' designed by Tobia Scarpa for B&B Italia.
Afra and Tobia Scarpa designs were characterized by simplicity and elegance, accompanied with modern and refined aesthetics. During the 1960's, the couple designed the Bastiano sofa and the Vanessa bed for Gavina and the Soriana armchair and Poltroncina 925 for Cassina, now exhibited in the permanent collection of the MoMA. Among their most famous projects is the ‘Coronado’ sofa, made for B&B Italia in 1966 and recognized as one of the first polyurethane models. In 1991 Rodolfo Dordoni was among the first to begin a recovery process of traditional furniture by reinterpreting the classic English club sofa. Designed at the height of Minimalism, Hall collection recovers some fundamental values such as domesticity and comfort.
RODOLFO DORDONI, architect and designer, was born in Milan, where he graduated in Architecture. Responsible over the years for the art direction of Artemide (glass collection), Cappellini (from 1979 to 1989), FontanaArte (furniture collection), Foscarini (lamps), Minotti (from 1997 until today) and Roda (since 2006), he designs for a lot of companies, including: Artemide, Cappellini, Cassina, Ceramica Flaminia, Ceramiche Mutina, Dada, Dornbracht, Driade, Effegibi, Emu, Ernestomeda, Fantini, Fiam Italia, Flos, Flou, FontanaArte, Foscarini, Jab, Kartell, Kettal, knIndustrie, MDF Italia, Minotti, Molteni&C, Moroso, Olivari, Pamar, Poliform, Poltrona Frau, Roda, RB Rossana...

This red velvet Tatlin sofa was designed by Mario Cananzi and Roberto Semprini for Edra in the 1980s. Inspired by the famous Tatlin tower, a symbol of constructivism created by Vladimir Tatlin.
This sofa is upholstered in its original red velvet.
It might need new new upholstery because it has some spots and decoloration.
The inside is still in good condition.
