Beautiful Amsterdam long case clock Wuba/Warmink - Period 1960. This clock has a well-functioning 8-day movement westminster percussion with quarter-hourly striking mechanism on gong rods. Beautiful brass dial with engraved bar. In the arch of the dial is the silver-plated working moon phase. The silver-plated dial has Roman numerals and is in good condition. Around the chapter ring, in the corners, you will see figures cast in bronze that depict the seasons. The cabinet is veneered in burl walnut and has a nice warm colour. The whole stands on a burl walnut veneered plateau which is also in good condition. Both sides of the hood are fitted with openwork windows, covered with fabric on the inside. The Suite/Set is almost completely original, save the bed, which was originally twin size, but professionally commissioned to be customized and converted into a Euro King Size for modern practicality. The quality of the conversion matches the quality of the suite/set. All pieces have gilt bronze mounted fittings; beautiful patina, beautiful parquetry; beautiful carrara marble tops, simply stunning! About 10 years ago, I saw the ‘identical twin’ of the Commode in an Antique Store on Central Park in New York, however it had a less desirable green marble top (IMHO), and they were looking for 30k USD for the Commode, on its OWN! This Suite/Set is SO GOOD that it is the main exhibit in our rear Showroom. Not marked but under the marble top of the commode there are 2 signatures in pencil (1) M. Le Youters (?) and (2) M. Exceptional oak neo-Gothic fireplace and hood. The uprights sides of the fireplace are composed of two columns with capitals foliage patterns, all surmounted by a reserve on which is carved an ermine (heraldic symbol). The lintot of the hearth features a mascaron representing a witch's face carved in high relief with on each side a pattern of parchments. The sculpture on the panelled hood represents a salamander. PRESENTING A EXCEPTIONAL, RARE and MONUMENTAL Pair of Late 19C French Empire Brass Wall Sconces. These matching pair of wall sconces or wall lights are LARGE! Made in France, circa 1890 of solid brass in the Empire Style. Each, is three and a half foot tall (41 inches) and each has 5 branches/lights, with frosted glass flame/torch shades. Unusually, the branches, lights and shades all point downwards, probably due to the Size of each sconce. They are flush mounted wall sconces/lights and weigh around 30 lbs each. At the top they have the Classic ribbon bow. As you move downwards, the have a large convex medallion/armorial medallion, with swags and laurel wreaths below The lower portion has a central tassel swag over a fluted architectural column which ends with an acorn/flower bulb style finial. Each light branch is decorated with a floral curved and scrolling leaf. The rear of the sconces has all the ‘oxidization’ one would expect from late 19th century pieces.
