Drink Table, Hand-Carved Pierced Stone Jali Table
By Stephanie Odegard Collection, Paul Mathieu (French)
Located in New York, NY
A Rainbow Teakwood Stone side table are hand-pierced with a geometric jali pattern, each opening positioned to maintain structural integrity while preserving the continuity of the lattice. The stone's warm layered veining creates visual complexity beyond the geometry. Suitable as a side table, accent table, drink table, end table, sculptural table, or architectural furniture object. The form integrates naturally into Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, and Contemporary interiors. The piece begins as a solid block of stone from which the interior volume is hollowed before carving begins. Artisans transfer the geometric jali pattern onto the exterior surfaces and then hand-cut hundreds of interlocking openings through the stone walls. Each opening must be positioned carefully to maintain structural integrity while preserving the continuity of the overall pattern. The carving process requires sustained precision because every cut influences the strength and visual balance of the final form. Measuring 12"×12"×16"H, the piece functions as a side table, accent table, drink table, end table, architectural object, decorative pedestal, or sculptural furniture element. The compact footprint allows the table to be used beside seating, between chairs, or as a standalone accent. Made entirely to order. Designed by Paul Mathieu for the Jour collection. The design draws from the tradition of Mughal jali...
