Magnificent sculptural piece of jewelry, created in Montevideo Uruguay by the plastic artist and sculptor Carlos Páez Vilaró, back in the 1967. This gorgeous piece of art has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with textured surfaces finishes and embellished with accents of red, orange and white glass enamel. It is fitted at the reverse with a hinged double pins bars to wear as a brooch or a pendant.

Carlos Páez Vilaró
He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1923. He was a Uruguayan abstract artist, painter, potter, sculptor, muralist, writer, composer and constructor. He took up drawing in 1939 and relocated to Buenos Aires, where he worked as a printing apprentice in the industrial Barracas section of the Argentine capital. Returning to Montevideo in the late 1940s, he developed an interest in Afro-Uruguayan culture. Settling in Montevideo's primarily black neighborhood of "Mediomundo" ("Half-World"), he studied the Candombé and Comparsa dances characteristic to the culture. He composed numerous musical pieces in the two genres and conducted an orchestra. His group's congas and bongos were decorated with their leader's own thematic drawings, as well. His interest in the culture later led him to Brazil, home to the western hemisphere's largest population of African descent. Páez Vilaró was invited to exhibit some of this work by the Director of the Modern Art Museum of Paris, Jean Cassou, in 1956. He traveled to Dakar, Senegal, later that year – his first visit to Africa. He was one of the "Grupo de los 8", a movement of Uruguayan art...

Jean Després
He was born in 1889 in Souvigny, Burgundy, from glass blower parents, Jean Després starts his apprenticeship with a Parisian goldsmith, friend of the family, in 1905. First an industrial drawer for the military aviation during World War I, he took over his parents’ shop in 1920 and launched his goldsmith and jeweler workshop. He revealed himself to be an innovative creator with a unique way to work metals, and with new drawn shapes never seen before. He participated to his first show in 1926 at the Salon des Indépendants. Many shows and exhibitions then followed, such as the Salon d’Automne, the Salon of Decorative artists, and the Tuileries Salon. Exceptional collector's piece, created in Paris France by the artist goldsmith Jean Després, back in the 1960. This cuff bracelet has been crafted with retro modernist patterns in solid .800/.999 silver with high polished finish and centering upon a sculpted chain-links band.
Weight: 65.90 Grams, (42.25 Dwt.).
Size: 7 Inches, (18 Cm) can be expanded or closed to fit size.
Measurements: The width is 30 mm (1.18 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark JP inside a lozange cartouche and signed inside, "J. DESPRES".
Jean Després
He was born in 1889 in Souvigny, Burgundy, from glass blower parents, Jean Després starts his apprenticeship with a Parisian goldsmith, friend of the family, in 1905. First an industrial drawer for the military aviation during World War I, he took over his parents’ shop in 1920 and launched his goldsmith and jeweler workshop. He revealed himself to be an innovative creator with a unique way to work metals, and with new drawn shapes never seen before. He participated to his first show in 1926 at the Salon des Indépendants. Many shows and exhibitions then followed, such as the Salon d’Automne, the Salon of Decorative artists, and the Tuileries Salon.
