Beach Bunnies, Original Painting

Beach Bunnies, Original Painting

By Jessica JH Roller

Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
During her stay in South Florida, artist Jessica JH Roller visited the beach daily and painted on the calmer mornings. She created this piece during the trip, capturing the short-eared bunnies that emerged from the dunes each day, alongside the emerald and turquoise waters of the Atlantic coast. The folk art style, with its bold colors and black outlines, gives the piece a vibrant and playful quality.

About the Artist
Artist Jessica JH Roller paints whimsical and playful compositions of animals and people, marked by bold colors and primitivist linework. She distills a scene into a few simple shapes, using color to create contrast and vibrancy, often choosing palettes that reflect pop culture. "My adopted kittens, Tony and Larry, opened my eyes and unleashed the artist inside me," shares Jessica. "After, I started to notice birds, trees, color, everything." Jessica brings to life her dynamic creations in the comfort of her studio in her century-old home. She enjoys listening to music and audiobooks while painting with her 18-year-old acrylic-covered easel. When not painting, Jessica cherishes time with her family and five cats, teaches yoga, and enjoys cycling along the river.

Fine & Unusual 19th Century Chinoiserie Decorated Gilt Bamboo Fire Screen

Located in Atlanta, GA

English or French, 19th century. Behold the exquisite charm of the 19th century brought to life in this fine and unusual Chinoiserie decorated gilt bamboo fire screen. A testament to the fascination with the Orient that characterized this era, this piece combines artistic prowess with functional elegance in a way that is both rare and captivating. Crafted in the 1800s, this fire screen showcases the intricate artistry of Chinoiserie, a design style heavily influenced by Chinese motifs and aesthetics. The bamboo frame, painstakingly adorned with gilt detailing, emulates the opulence associated with the Victorian era. The Chinoiserie decoration, rendered in vibrant colors and delicate brushwork, features enchanting scenes inspired by Chinese landscapes and mythology. This exceptional work of art is framed by the bamboo's organic elegance, creating a striking juxtaposition between the exotic and the natural. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this fire screen served a practical purpose, shielding the room from the heat of the fireplace. Its folding design allows for easy placement and storage when not in use, making it a versatile and functional piece of decor. This piece comes from a Bellevue Ave home...

YBA YoungBritishArtist Jewelry Sculpture First US Gallery Exhibit NYC 2000-2001

By Contemporary

Located in Chicago, IL

Young British artist (YBA) Philippe Bradshaw (1965-2005) was represented by blue-chip international art galleries when he was the first to reimagine iconic-art images as tapestry-like metal-chain installations in evolving multimedia environments. He is best known for transforming hand-assembled colorful anodized-aluminum links into shimmering semi-transparent layered curtains, whose hanging metallic strands uniquely dispersed the light of his camcorder-video projections and the club-house music from records that he deejayed. In Bradshaw's first American exhibition "Disco Damage" in 2001 at New York City's legendary avant-garde art gallery, Deitch Projects, this jewelry-costume sculpture became part of the artist's live-in evolving studio installation. While later celebrating 15 years of art happenings that had occurred at that Soho exhibition space, its gallerist-cum-museum-director Jeffrey Deitch--who was physically scarred during this unforgettable chaotic several-month experience orchestrated by Bradshaw--recounted this show in his retrospective hardcover book "Live The Art". When Bradshaw drowned in the Parisian-river Seine in August 2005 while living the high life of his skyrocketing success in Europe, he left a small body of large installations that is mostly distributed among the world's top private art collections. Notably, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles has acquired one of his multimedia works. More recently, another assembly of his chain curtains made a rare public appearance at new modern-art museum, Heidi Horten Collection, during its inaugural exhibition in Vienna. Since winning a major British visual-art prize in 2000 that marked Bradshaw's art-world ascent following fellow Goldsmiths College YBAs who were close friends, this sculpture evolved from one of his most elaborate jewelry costumes that he created in London while seducing the American who became his girlfriend. Unlike other pieces of jewelry that he made as gifts to participating acquaintances while video taping...
