As acquired and found in Copenhagen, Denmark last year and coming from one original owner from that city.
This is Hans Wegner Classic icon chair: Papa Bear designed chair, model AP, manufactured by A.P. Møbler in the 1960s. It still has its original 100% Danish Hallingdal wool fabric in a pleasant light oatmeal color. This bamsestol (Bear chair) known as Papa Bear chair, has its paws and legs constructed of teak.
It is in clean, excellent as found condition with moderate wear appropriate for its age. No restoration beyond four original buttons which were recently re-fastened has been conducted. This chair was produced 1950s-to 1960s.
A design icon with outstanding comfort - it is quite possibly one of the most comfortable chairs ever made. It is said, that the chair received its name after someone had referred to its armrests as great bear paws!
