This original mixed media painting by Olga Nikitina is inspired by coral reefs, underwater landscapes, and the textures of the ocean floor. The artwork is created using oil paint combined with texture paste, sand, and small stones, forming a highly textured sculptural surface that resembles natural coral formations and marine structures.
Using a palette knife and mixed media materials, the artist built multiple layers of texture, creating depth and movement across the surface. Rich tones of turquoise, deep blue, emerald green, and warm coral colors evoke the feeling of looking at a coral reef from above, like an aerial ocean landscape, or exploring the reef underwater.
The combination of oil paint with natural materials such as sand and stones gives the painting a raw, organic quality and a strong three-dimensional presence. Light interacts beautifully with the textured surface, constantly changing the appearance of the artwork throughout the day.
This painting is part of Olga Nikitina’s ocean-inspired body of work, influenced by marine environments and underwater exploration. The work sits between abstract painting and aerial landscape, making it suitable for contemporary, coastal, modern, or minimalist interiors.
The artwork is created on stretched canvas and is ready to hang.
