Helen Pond and her collaborator-husband Herbert Senn worked together on dozens of set designs. This particular piece was created as a preliminary design for Nancy Leeds' Great Scot! Play of 1965, which focused on Robert Burns' love life.
Pond and Senn were known internationally for their acclaimed set designs for Broadway shows, opera and ballet companies and for the 400 sets the couple designed at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis for 38 seasons.
The pair designed Broadway sets for “What Makes Sammy Run?,” “Roar Like a Dove,” “Oh, Coward,” and the 1982 revival of “Showboat,” and sets for “The Boys from Syracuse,” both for Off-Broadway and the Drury Lane production in London. In addition to the Boston Ballet...
