Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Historic Basque Harbor View with Boats, Spanish Impressionist Coastal Oil Artist: Miquel Carbonell Martorell Birth / Death: Barcelona, 1930 – 2008 Title: Pasajes de San Juan, Guipúzcoa Technique: Oil on canvas board Signature: Signed “Carbonell” lower right Period: Mid / late 20th century Subject: Harbor view, Basque coastal village, boats, traditional architecture Artwork dimensions: 27 × 35 cm / 10.6 × 13.8 in Framed dimensions: 48 × 56 cm / 18.9 × 22 in Framed: Yes Condition: Good overall condition consistent with age. Stable painted surface. Presented in a decorative frame. Description Atmospheric oil painting by Miquel Carbonell Martorell, depicting the historic harbor of Pasajes de San Juan, Guipúzcoa, one of the most picturesque coastal villages of the Basque Country. The composition captures the charm of the old port with moored fishing boats, calm reflective water, clustered waterfront houses and the rising hillside architecture that defines this celebrated northern Spanish enclave. Carbonell uses a confident, expressive brushstroke, building the scene through soft greys, greens, whites, muted reds and luminous touches of turquoise. The painting has the appeal collectors often seek in European coastal art: recognizable place, historic harbor atmosphere, boats, architecture, water reflections and a painterly post-impressionist surface. The work feels intimate yet highly decorative, with the kind of quiet maritime poetry that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The reverse bears the original handwritten location inscription: “Pasajes de San Juan (Guipúzcoa)” A very appealing Spanish harbor painting, especially attractive for collectors of Basque landscape, European coastal villages, marine painting, Spanish impressionism and 20th-century Mediterranean / Atlantic port scenes. Artist Biography Miquel Carbonell Martorell (Barcelona, 1930 – 2008) was a Spanish painter associated with the tradition of modern figurative landscape painting. Trained in Barcelona, he developed a refined pictorial language rooted in direct observation, architectural structure and atmospheric color. His work often focused on historic towns, harbors, European coastal views and traditional architecture, subjects he approached with a lively post-impressionist sensibility. Carbonell painted scenes from Spain, France and other European locations, creating a body of work admired for its clarity, elegant brushwork and decorative strength. His paintings are particularly valued by collectors looking for Spanish 20th-century landscapes with recognizable locations, strong painterly execution and a cultivated European character. Artistic Context / Pictorial Inspiration This painting belongs to the rich tradition of Spanish and European harbor painting, where architecture, water, light and local identity become the true subject of the work. The handling of the scene shows affinities with the coastal sensitivity of Darío de Regoyos, the chromatic freedom of Joaquim Mir, the marine atmosphere of Eliseu Meifrèn, and the broader European post-impressionist tradition of painters who transformed ports and villages into luminous, collectible images. Its Basque subject matter gives the work an additional layer of appeal: Pasajes de San Juan is not a generic coastal view, but a historic harbor with strong cultural identity and visual character. spanish harbor painting basque coast painting pasajes san juan guipuzcoa painting spanish coastal village european harbor scene marine painting spain boats oil painting historic port painting post impressionist landscape spanish impressionist painting...

Dalí Circle Surrealist Mineral Landscape, Spanish Catalan Oil Painting Artist: Antoni Pitxot Soler / Antoni Pichot Soler (Figueres, 1934 – 2015) Title: Surrealist Mineral Landscape Date: 1985 Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 50 × 61 cm / 19.7 × 24 in Framing: Unframed Signature: Signed and dated lower right Condition: Very good overall condition. Stable canvas and paint layer. Rich surface texture, visible impasto and original brushwork. Description Powerful surrealist oil painting by Antoni Pitxot Soler, one of the most important Catalan artists connected to Salvador Dalí’s inner circle and a key figure in the visual universe of Cadaqués and Figueres. Painted in 1985, this work belongs to Pitxot’s mature period and presents one of his most recognizable subjects: a dreamlike mineral landscape built from stones, fragments, shells, fossil-like forms and metamorphic shapes. The composition seems suspended between landscape, archaeology and hallucination, where inert matter becomes almost alive. The painting is especially strong visually. The lower section is constructed through a dense accumulation of sculptural forms, painted with thick, expressive brushwork and a refined chromatic range of blues, ochres, pinks, whites, greys and earthy tones. Above them, a floating organic form...

Las Ramblas Barcelona Flower Market Street Scene Painting Urban Impressionist

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Scenes of Las Ramblas in Barcelona remain among the most recognizable urban subjects in European painting and are highly sought after by collectors and interior designers worldwide. Artist Jordi Junyent Title Rambla de las Flores, Barcelona Date 1988 Medium Oil on canvas Dimensions 50 × 61 cm 19.7 × 24 in Signature Signed “Junyent” lower left and dated 1988. Frame Unframed Condition Very good condition. Canvas firm and well stretched. Stable paint layer with bright colors. No visible restorations. Atmospheric urban painting depicting Las Ramblas flower market in Barcelona, one of the most recognizable and vibrant locations in the city. The composition captures the scene after rainfall, with reflective pavement, flower stalls and strolling figures creating depth and movement. The wet street surface reflects light and silhouettes, enhancing the lively Mediterranean atmosphere. Executed with a confident and expressive brushstroke, the artist uses a palette dominated by cool greys, greens and blues contrasted with vivid reds from the flower displays. The simplified figures and loose handling of paint emphasize the mood of the place rather than strict detail, a characteristic approach of post-impressionist urban painting. Scenes of Barcelona’s Las Ramblas are particularly sought after in the international decorative art market due to their strong visual identity and association with one of Europe’s most iconic boulevards. An attractive and highly decorative cityscape, ideal for collectors of European urban painting or for interior design settings seeking a vibrant Mediterranean atmosphere. Jordi Junyent was a Spanish painter active in the late twentieth century whose work focused primarily on urban scenes and Mediterranean city views. His paintings often depict recognizable locations such as the streets of Barcelona, rendered with a loose brushstroke and an emphasis on atmosphere, light and color. Working within a post-impressionist tradition, Junyent developed compositions that balance figurative clarity with painterly spontaneity, making his works appealing within the European decorative art market. Frameless. Is born in Madrid on the 21st july 1951. After attending primary school, he starts to grow an enormous tendency for drawing. At the age of 14 he begins to work in advertising and attends to the Vallecas school of arts. At the age of 14 he travels to Switzerland and in Geneve he gets intensly into painting and decides to dedicate himself only to it. When he returns to Spain he enrolls Arts Studies, and at the begining of summer '66, he visits Sitges, where he'll come back year after year and where ultimately he'll set his home. At this time he starts selling his painting in the flea market in Madrid and later in Sitges, setting himself on the street, thus completing his studies and making it economically. While he's in Madrid he recives lessons by Pedro Mozas at Bellas Artes and starts to learn profoundly about painting. In 1969 he starts painting portraits in the streets. In Sitges he creates, with other friends, a great artistic atmosphere in the Paseo de la Ribera, by the sea, that today still exists. He starts travelling through Europe, visiting and painting in Paris, London and Amsterdam. In the middle of this bohemian epoque, he moves to the Cannary Islands during the winters for 5 years in a row, he moves in the Parque de Santa Catalina "Las Palmas de Gran Canaria" where he works and meet all sorts of people in the streets, which later would mark his pictoric line. He becomes friend with Sidney Nagley in 1969, who organizes his first exhibition in Toronto, Canada. Afterwards he'll leave his studies and start painting exclusively in his studio. He gathers his first exhibition in the Ateneu of Barcelona in 1970. He befriends with the art critic of La Vanguardia, Fernando Gutierrez and the Count of Caralt orders him a set of illustration for a new edition of Garcia Lorcas Romancero Gitano. His first exhibition in a commercial gallery is done in the Majestic Gallery in Barcelona with a gorgeous collection of nudity drawings. He achieves huge success and for some years he affords his painting thanks to those drawings. During a period in Madrid, Mr Ponce de León, a consul in the Ministry of Exterior Affairs grants him with bachelor degree to study in the prestigious Academia de España in Rome. However, he can't accept it due to militar service obligations. Some days later, before joining the ranks he opens in the Cuatre Gats (Palma de Mallorca) with hiperrealist pieces that already then he presented as the first painter in that city, that later would become a fashion in 1973. After this period he meets José Maria Gudiol who advises positively. Since then, the intense work and the fight for daily improvement that has become the trademark of his life. The seek of styles and situations, the journeys through Europe always aware of all the tendencies that have in the art line that we can see nowadays. At his more than fifty years given to paint, his individual exhibitions beat the 100, his artwork is highly appreciated and valued in the complex market of art. In October 1982 hi makes his first exhibition in Tarragona. In the catalogue, writing of the unforgettable Fernando Gutierrez, he says "Fuentetaja is an artist of character and exceptional upbringing with a masterly knowledge of technique and resourses, and personality completely uncommon to the dimension of his sensitivity, as the richness of his deep and bloomed liricism. A judgement as accurate as foreseeing for the future outstanding of the artist, in where his paint soared through different phases mantaining an unquestionable quality. Lines, cubist, expressionist and hiperrealist till his current realism, in the middle of his creative maturity. Jose Luis Fuentetaja...

Edward Ben Avram Hand signed lower right Jerusalem Israeli Old City walls landscape cityscape. Home of the Har Habayit, The Western Wall, Temple mount. Size includes frame 23 X 28, paper is 14 X 20 inches Edward Ben Avram (born 1941) is an Indian - Israeli artist who was born in Bombay, India and immigrated to Israel as a teenager. He graduated from the Bezalel School of Art and Design in 1965 and continues to call Jerusalem his home. Most of Ben Avraham oil painting and watercolors portrays Israeli cities, particularly the old city of Jerusalem with its architecture and orientalist domes and arches, religious festivals, and Bible stories. He paints in creamy sensual tones incorporating symbols such as doves, a menorah, and Shabbat candles. With his penchant for filigreed designs and bright colors, Edouard Ben Avram betrays some influences of his Indian boyhood. But the subjects that he paints so gracefully with a touch of Oriental lyricism are scenes of Jerusalem, his home for over 20 years.
