Raoul Dufy was an important multifaceted French artist who worked in a variety of media including painting, print making, mural design, theatre and costume design, upholstery, wall paper, ceramics, and fabric. In his paintings he often depicted the circus, equestrian scenes, Parisian cafe life, yachting scenes, colorful views of the French Riviera, and musical events in a distinctive style that combined the various artistic trends of the day, most notably Fauvism. Born in 1877 in Le Havre France, and after a year of military service in 1900, Dufy won a scholarship to the Ecole Nationale superieure des Beaux-Arts, in Paris, studying under Othon Friesz. He exhibited extensively throughout Paris and France at the various salons, including the Salon des Tuileries. Born in 1897, Ben-Zion Weinman celebrated his European Jewish heritage in his visual works as a sculptor, painter, and printmaker. Influenced by Spinoza, Knut Hamsun, and Wladyslaw Reymont, as well as Hebrew literature, Ben-Zion wrote poetry and essays that, like his visual work, attempt to reveal the deep “connection between man and the divine, and between man and earth.”
An emigrant from the Ukraine, he came to the US in 1920. He wrote fairy tales and poems in Hebrew under the name Benzion Weinman, but when he began painting he dropped his last name and hyphenated his first, saying an artist needed only one name.

Manuel Capdevila i Massana (Barcelona, December 28, 1910 - April 18, 2006) was a Catalan painter and goldsmith, son of the goldsmith Joaquín Capdevila y Meya and father of the also goldsmith, Joaquim Capdevila y Gaya.
In 1950 he was invited to The 1950 Pittsburgh International contest at the Carnegie Institute, Pennsylvania, where he presented the painting The Priest, which is currently part of the MNAC collection. A year later the Museum of Modern Art in Panama acquired the work Crisantemos.
He was part of the Morera Prize Jury in 1953. Two years later he signed the manifesto that Alexandre Cirici drafted, creating the Institute of Industrial Design, as a member of the IDIB Management Board of Directors.
At the request of Lluís Maria Güell, director of the Massana School, he assumed the creation of the Open Jewelery Classroom in 1959, from where he made students think and reflect on the new possibilities of contemporary jewelry. Gorgeous fauvist portrait of man, in a vivd and expressive colorful palette, titled "Ogden" by Henri O’Connor (American, b. 1921), 1996. Signed and dated lower right corner and on verso. Condition: Professionally cleaned and restored three tears and inpainting. Presented in black painted wood frame. Image size: 16"H x 20"W. Framed size: 21.75"H x 17.75"W.
Henri O’Connor, the son of an American father and a French mother was born in 1921 and grew up in Nantes, France. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nantes and in the late 1930s, studied at the Beaux Arts, the Atelier de la Grande Chaumiere and the Academie de l’Arts et Publicite in Paris
“He was basically one degree removed from all of the great masters of the turn of the century,” David Deitch, a freelance art curator in New York, says of O’Connor’s education. “His teachers were associates of Matisse, Derain — all of the big players at the time.” The curator says that the influences of O’Connor’s teachers, which reflect the Fauvist style in vogue at the time, is apparent in his paintings, particularly some of his later work.
