medium: trumpet, aluminum (found cans), stainless steel wire, soot, enamel Paul Villinski has created studio and large-scale artworks for more than three decades. Villinski was born in York, Maine, USA, in 1960, son of an Air Force navigator. He has lived and worked in New York City since 1982. A scenic route through the educational system included stops at Phillips Exeter Academy and the Massachusetts College of Art, and a BFA with honors from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1984. He lives with his partner, the painter Amy Park, and their son, Lark, in their studios in Long Island City, NY. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions nationally, recently including the solo exhibitions “Paul Villinski: Burst” at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, TX and “Passage: A Special Installation,” at the Blanton Museum, University of Texas, Austin. Recent group shows include “Material Transformations” at the Montgomery Museum of Art, Montgomery, AL; “Re: Collection,” at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY; “Making Mends,” at the Bellevue Museum of Arts, Bellevue, WA; and “Prospect .1,” an international Biennial in New Orleans, LA. “Emergency Response Studio,” a FEMA trailer transformed into an off-the-grid mobile artist’s studio, was the subject of a solo exhibition at Rice University Art Gallery, Houston, TX; the exhibition also travelled to Ballroom Marfa, in Marfa, TX; Wesleyan University’s Zilkha Gallery, Middletown, CT; and ERS was featured in the New Museum’s “Festival of Ideas for the New City”, in New York, NY. Villinski’s work is widely collected, including major commissioned public works including “SkyCycles,” three full-scale “flying bicycles...

Vrouw met Uil Owl Bronze Sculpture Girl with Owl on Head Wisdom In Stock
Located in Utrecht, NL
Uil Owl Bronze Sculpture Girl with Owl on Head Wisdom Contemporary In Stock The statues of Erwin Meijer are subtle with a recognizable, personal handwriting. They breathe the atmosphere of a narrative poem, where the reader not only encounters the artist, but also himself. Though the statues are realistic, there is still enough room for interpretation. Do the artist and the viewer see the same story? It doesn’t really matter, because the beauty in his work has a autonome quality. How can we interprete the work in the conscious and unconscious brain? The first will be hit by the clear styled forms and the technical know-how. The second by his favourite theme, nature, the loving images of men and animals, often together in harmony. Very common in his work is the symbolic worth within the story. The viewer experiences an emotion, seeing a human or human presence, funny or vulnerable. You sympathize with the myth and feel the power of the methaphorical meaning. This is confirms we are dealing with a real artist. Erwin Meijer managed very well to give his sculptures a classic universality, timeless, surpassing the boundaries of reality. With a signature beyond countries and cultures. . East and west meet each other in many sculptures, like Europe and the bull...

Born december 19 1958, De Keyzer studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten, Eeklo, lead by professional sculptor Leo De Buysere. In a time and environment where creativity was considered disturbing, rather than being a merit, the young Dirk De Keyzer found it hard to decide in which direction to head with his life. Like so many boys of his age, he was sent out to learn a craft, destined to go to work in a factory. Other horizons would call though, and that's how he ended up in the Royal academy of Eeklo. It was there that he discovered his predilection for bronze. It became more and more obvious that bronze would be the only medium for Dirk to give expression to his inner most thoughts and artwork. Fascinated by great sculptors like George Minne...

''La Baigneuse'', Contemporary Bronze Sculpture of an Elephant Sunbathing
Located in Utrecht, NL
The optimistic bronze sculptures of Dutch artist Miep Maarse (1945) are a feast for the eyes. Dancing elephants, bathing hippos and playing bears characterize her oeuvre. The images are optimistic in tone and message. Through her images she shows us her positive view of the world and humanity. She shapes her sculptures in a professional and original way. The animals have recognizable human characteristics, which radiate great charm and tenderness. At first glance, this seems simple and charming. The opposite is true. You must have studied man and his behavior extremely well in order to make this translation. A hippopotamus - not a gentle animal at all - transforms into a friendly big lug who dances, dives or acts like an English lord. What is special is that Maarse finds her images so natural that people do not immediately realize that what they are actually doing is not possible. In ''Between the Ears'' the mother elephant with her child between her ears looks so natural and realistic and is so moving and playful. Almost casually, Miep Maarse asks the obligatory question: "How realistic is realistic?" Everyone will immediately admit that her images are not realistic. But what are they then? Surrealistic maybe? Strangely enough, it is obvious to place them in that movement, but everyone feels that something is not right. After all, with surrealism we immediately think of bizarre situations and alienation, while Miep Maarse's animal sculptures radiate something familiar and domestic. Due to the metamorphosis that her animals undergo, they enter the realm of fabulous creatures. The animal sculptures are liberating because the depicted animals have different codes of conduct than the people who imitate them. Miep Maarse received her education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. ''La Baigneuse...
