Albert Montserrat, Golden Bowl, Oil - Spot Glazed Thrown Porcelain
Located in London, GB
Oil - Spot Glazed Thrown Porcelain Diameter 50 cm / 19 3/4 in. Height 25 cm / 9 7/8 in. ------- Montserrat is totally convinced that ceramics is the most noble, traditional and humanly attached material of all. Also, historically, what this material has allowed us, the humanity, to achieve, in all aspects, from improving our health to a medium of expression, is immense. This makes him feel real veneration and respect to it. He shows a very particular interest for the highly technically demanding oriental glazes from the Old Masters, having inspired him to make an extensive research, giving the strong finish to Montserrat’s work. Glazes are his passion. He is fascinated to see and endlessly test what the chemical elements around us bring to the surface of the vessels that he throws on the wheel. He has a special interest in the traditional vessels that the history of ceramics has brought to us. From the Egyptian canopic...

Poisson En Mission"- Serving Bowl (Hand-Painted, Gold Luster, Fish, Durer)
Located in Kansas City, MO
Melanie Sherman "Poisson En Mission" - Serving Bowl (Hand-Painted, Gold Luster, Fish, Durer, Dürer, Made to Order) Porcelain, Glaze, Overglaze, Vintage Flower Decal, German Platinum and 24k German Gold Luster Year: 2023 Size: Height 4.25in x Diameter 9in (approx.) Signed by hand COA provided Ref.: 924802-1809 *Made to Order Every piece is unique, design might differ slightly Customization possible **Lead time approx. 2 weeks for qty 1-3 495 780 Her work references exclusive and precious porcelain wares from 18th-century Europe. In her work she tries to capture the qualities for which porcelain has been known since its discovery in China: whiteness, translucency, and resonance. She is attracted to the enameled and lustered surfaces of the Baroque, Renaissance and Rococo porcelain designs, as well as to elaborations on structural elements of these time periods. She is investigating surface decorations and embellished shapes in order to gain more knowledge for my own studio practice. Sherman is interested in incorporating and referencing historic drawings, motives, and patterns into her work. Studying the history of ceramics Sherman has been captivated by the relationship between East and West, and how they continue to influence each other, especially through the ceramic arts. Although there might be considerable differences between the two civilizations, the cultural exchange between them is an important connector of history and has produced a long and rich exchange of ideas between artists and makers. Asian craft traditions have been handed down to the West and the handmade aspect, even within the factory setting, is still an important concept that allows for control of design and quality by the artist, which is essential within craft of the West. "Cloud Flask", Ceramic, Vessel, Porcelain, Overglaze Paint, Clouds, Biomorphic
Located in St. Louis, MO
Sam Chung lives and works in Tempe, AZ. He is a ceramic artist and Professor of Art at Arizona State University. As a second-generation Korean-American, he explores pottery that reframes historical ceramics from a cross-cultural perspective and explores the metaphorical role of the vessel. In his current work, he references traditional Korean cloud motifs and pottery shapes while juxtaposing past with present through his vivid, graphically painted imagery. The clouds represent a phenomenon that is constantly in flux and correspond to his own questions of belonging within or outside of a culture. Sam has exhibited his work nationally and internationally at Duane Reed, Harvey Preston (f.k.a. Harvey Meadows) Ann Linnemann Gallery (Denmark), ClayAKAR, Greenwich House Pottery, Sherry Leedy and Lacoste Gallery. He is the recipient of a yearlong Fulbright grant allowing him to tour South Korea, teach at the Ewha Womans Univerisity and Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, and design two limited edition lines of dinnerware ceramics dinnerware factory KwangjuYo.
