Antique Coalport Plates

The opening in 1792 of the Coalport Canal, which joins the River Severn at Coalport, had increased the attractiveness of the site.

This is a stunning plate made by John Rose at Coalport between 1805 and 1815.

Rims of plates have hand painted Cartouches that gives an elegant appearance.

Coalport was one of the leading potters in 19th and 20th Century Staffordshire.

Some time ago, I had amassed a set of 12 of these old Coalport - Daniell plates in pink, and they were sold at $500 a plate.
