A special place for storing jewelry and other treasures, this early 19th-century lock box was created by a skilled artisan in China's Jiangsu province.

With reinforced brass edges and a shield-shaped brass escutcheon protecting the lock. When opened, the box reveals a worn writing surface.

A key is provided but does not turn the tumblers all the way (which is probably a good thing so you can't get locked out of the box and have to destroy it to gain entry!).

It is vital that you DO NOT put the key inside the box and shut the doors as you will not be able to gain access again after the box has self locked.
