The anterior cover is embellished with an exceptional hot enamel scene depicting two greyhound style canines in a rural setting. The posterior surface of the case is ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials 'G.W.C.R' and the date '11th Feby 1886' The rounded sides of this cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This exceptional antique sterling silver gilt vinaigrette has a rectangular form with rounded corners. The cover of this fine vinaigrette is embellished with a scene of Abbotsford House in high relief. The sides of the box are embellished with panels of engine turned decoration. The underside of the box is ornamented with engine turned decoration incorporating a rectangular cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved initials 'EA'. Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders. The hinged silver gilt vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged, pierced decorated silver gilt grille, in addition to the original sponge.
