An important and rare table clock from the workshop of David Roentgen. The case with an oval stepped plinth top with gilt bronze handle, decoration of the case with ormolu mille raie banding, beaded edges and brass fluted columns to the front flanking the square brass dial, foliate engraved spandrels to the corners, centred by the white enamel Arabic chapter ring, signed Delolme, pierced brass hands, convex glazed bezel, square plated eight-day movement with four back-pinned pillars, verge escapement, silk suspension, rack and count wheel strike, striking the hours and quarters on two bells above, the back plate also signed, glazed side panels. There is only a small series of comparable table clocks from the workshop of David Roentgen known. The present clock seems to be the first example of the cooperation between David Roentgen and the court clockmaker Delolme in Brunswick. The case is meticulously crafted and both case and movement are of superb quality. David Roentgen, called the "most celebrated ébéniste in Europe" by his contemporaries, was a successful entrepreneur who transformed the business founded by his father, Abraham Roentgen...

Rare & fabulous Antique Napoleon lll clock garniture with incredible quality bronze sculptures. You will rarely see a clock garniture with bronzes of this quality and detail. The bearded thinker/philosopher on top of the marble clock is simply astonishing. His natural poisture, his hair, face and hands, but also his clothes, it is all of a quality and detail that only a master sculptor can achieve. And the patina also is just perfect. The philosopher is marked on the back and it reads 'BE x'. The two bronze female (classical maiden) sculptures are in fact two stunning candle holders and they too stand on beautifully shaped black marble bases with cartouches. These majestic candle holders are marked on the sides 'L.V.E. ROBERT' (Louis Valentin Elias Robert) and on the back they read 'AD x'. The black marble clock comes with a circular dial face with gilt Roman numerals and this clock has a well working movement. The movement is stamped 'DENIERE / A PARIS' and '2165'. An Exceptional Early English Fusee Carriage Clock Attributed to Thomas & James Ferguson Cole London, circa 1833–1838 An exceptional early English fusee carriage clock, attributable to Thomas Cole and his brother James Ferguson Cole, two of the most important and innovative English clockmakers of the nineteenth century. Although unsigned by the brothers themselves, this clock can be confidently attributed on stylistic, technical, and constructional grounds, as documented by John Hawkins in The Hawkins Pictorial Survey of Cole Clocks, Part I. This example represents a Phase I, Type I Cole carriage clock, placing it among the very earliest surviving carriage clocks produced by the Cole brothers. The design and engraving are characteristic of Thomas Cole, while the movement is the work of his elder brother James Ferguson Cole, whose bespoke mechanisms are widely regarded as technically superior and highly individual. The clock is fitted with an eight-day single-chain fusee movement with English lever escapement, the backplate numbered 2020. Hawkins illustrates an almost identical backplate on p. 400. Of particular importance is the distinctive reinforcing bridge to the mainspring, a hallmark of early James Ferguson Cole movements. This bridging system was designed to provide additional strength and depth to the mainspring in these miniature fusee clocks...

Bears the makers mark, Finot a Versailles. The dial supporting a reclining bronze classical muse on a rectangular white Carrara marble base decorated by a row of gilt bronze beads, the set rests on four feet. The cross in the hand of the bronze muse can be removed (see photos). This 19th Century figurative clock is very decorative, interesting for its technicality of the dial and provenance. The bronze feminine muse and its shape has a perfect patina and is a remarkable conversational piece. The garniture set are a pair of fine neoclassical bronze vases with brown and golden patina that rest on white Carrara marble embellished with gilt bronze figural handles...
