Rare Op Art paperweight was hand blown in elongated ovoid shape. The colored rounded central gather has evenly distributed swirls of blue glass with randomly added yellow pigment placed in abstract, graphic pattern, with the whole structure enclosed in clear glass in sommerso technique. A wonderful, unique and quite engaging natural organic wood turned bowl by Canadian master wood turner/artist Jim Lorriman. This large piece is made of reclaimed/recycled/repurposed elm wood and was taken and made from a pioneer village general store door frame in Ontario, Canada circa 1877. Lorriman is quite renowned for giving "new life to old wood." The work is signed by Lorriman with his traditional "JL" signature and dated (3/05) on the base/underside as well as a written description of the wood's origin and history. Lorriman's pieces are widely collected and his work compares favorably to other famed wood turners such as Bob Stocksdale, Rude Osolnik, Doug Ayers, and Hap Sakwa amongst others.
