This antique tantalus set is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1900 and done in the period Edwardian style. The case is composed of oak with silver or nickel plated mounts. The squared bottles are composed of crystal with faceted ball stoppers and etched flowers on foliage on the sides. A set of five genuine cut lead crystal stemmed glasses. This set is from the 1980s and made in France. They are in the Tuileries no 7 pattern. Each glass features a cut crystal geometric pattern along the body of the glass. The glasses are mini-size and would be great for serving dessert wine or cordial. There are no markings on the bottom, however, they do come in the original box that they came in. They are vintage but do not show any signs of use. He changed his name to Jascha (Yascha) Brojdo when he moved to Chicago in 1937 to study at the Art Institute of Chicago, where he earned his MFA. After serving in the U.S. Army throughout World War II he moved to New York and began painting metal serving trays signing them Brodjo. (quite a nice find for a collector). He was hired by his friend Max Wille, to create designs for the M. Wille Company, who came up with the name Georges Briard to mark commercial pieces. Brodjo was also a painter and would use his real name on his art pieces. As Georges Briard, Brodjo became an American award-winning designer, his designs stocked at high end department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. Georges Briard designs became hugely popular throughout the 1950s to 70s...
