An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware. This exceptional antique sterling silver goblet has a circular Campania shaped form onto a knapped stem and domed circular foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is encompassed with exceptional and collectable chased decorated cricket scene, comprised of a gentleman propelling the ball towards the wicket defended by a batsman, all in a rural style background. The decoration to the body incorporates a scrolling leaf bordered shaped cartouche displaying the later engraved inscription 'Vulcan Institute Cricket Club, The Lermit Challenge Cup for Inter-Shop Competition, 1950. The lower bulbous portion of this Victorian goblet is embellished with further scrolling, floral and extended terrain ornamentation. The plain cylindrical pedestal features a circular fluted knop to the upper portion. The foot is ornamented with further chased floral, foliate and opposing scroll decoration, with an incurved collet style rim. Condition This antique Victorian sterling silver...
