Victorian Agricultural Sterling Silver Goblet

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver engraved goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell-shaped form onto a waisted stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this silver goblet is embellished with an impressive flat engraved scene of a male figure ploughing a field with two horses. The opposing side of the body is embellished with an impressive flat engraved scrolling banner bearing the contemporary inscription 'Carmarthenshire Agricultural Society', all above the presentation date '1855'. The plain spreading pedestal foot is encompassed with an embossed bead decorated border to the rim. This exceptional goblet, crafted by the renowned Birmingham silversmiths Elkington & Co Ltd, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique Victorian silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentationcondition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The flat engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique silver engraved goblet.
