The rectangular porcelain panel depicts a romantic gondola scene after the original painting by the Italian artist Ignace Spiridon (1848-1930). At the helm, a winged cherub steers a gondola carrying two lovers across a still river, accompanied by a pair of swans in the background. The work is notable for its soft pastel tones, classical drapery, and idealised figures, consistent with the late Romantic academic style.
