Crafted in Quimper, France, circa 1880 and oval in shape, the jardinière with acanthus leaf handles stands on four paw feet; on each side, the ceramic planter features two different hand painted medallions with Britons people dressed in traditional outfits and embellished with blue scrolled foliage and floral decor. On one side, a family is shown enjoying two musicians seated under flying birds. The other side features a family and passersby offering charitable coins and viewing a floral bouquet.
