Alessandro Albrizzi Italian Lucite World Globe Ice Bucket, 1960s A fine Italian Mid-Century Modern Lucite world globe ice bucket designed by Alessandro Albrizzi, formed as a clear polished acrylic cube with a spherical interior chamber engraved with the continents, latitude and longitude lines, and orbiting moon detail. The object is both functional barware and sculptural design, with the globe appearing suspended within the transparent mass like an optical illusion or captured planetary form. Alessandro Albrizzi, an Italian designer active in the international design world of the 1960s and 1970s, became known for sophisticated Lucite furniture, barware, and decorative objects associated with jet-set interiors and the glamorous modern taste of the period. His work often combined clean geometric forms with theatrical materials, using acrylic, chrome, brass, and high-polish surfaces to create objects that were at once modern, luxurious, and playful.
