An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian acid etched glass and English sterling silver mounted claret jug; an addition to our wine and drink related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular, rounded bulbous form. The cylindrical neck of the jug is fitted with an impressive sterling silver, hallmarked mount embellished with impressive chased floral spray decoration on a matte background, all encompassed with a plain border accented with simple drop motifs. The decoration to the mount incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to either side. The underside of the plain spout features a simplified quatrefoil floral motif encompassed with a lozenge shaped border. The mount retains the original hinged, hallmarked cover encompassed with further floral decoration and surmounted with an impressive pierced interlacing scrolling leaf decorated thumb piece. An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian English cast sterling silver three piece condiment set in the form of squirrels; an addition to our silver cruets/condiments collection This exceptional and rare antique Victorian English cast sterling silver condiment set consists of a mustard pot and a pair of peppers. The components of this magnificent set have been realistically modelled in the form of squirrels eating nuts. Each substantial piece is ornamented with details reproducing the squirrel's fur and anatomical features. The fine mustard pot is fitted the original hallmarked flush hinged cover, incorporating the rodent's arms and head, and retains the original gilding to the interior; the flush hinge and gilding indicates the high quality of the piece. The decoration to each squirrel pepper incorporates an array of pierced 'pepper' holes to the upper portion. The underside of each pepperette is fitted with a hinged hallmarked push fit cover. The base of each piece bears the retailer's mark 'Jones 41 St James's St & 23 B Des Capucine, Paris'. The magnificent condiment set will have been crafted in the same year, but due to the hallmarking system the mustard pot is struck with the date letter 'C' and the pepperettes bear the date letter 'D'. A very Important Pair of 19th Century Meissen Schneeballen/Snowball Covered Vases with Birds, Bird Cage with One Bird, and Raised Flowers. Each vase is of large size, with a baluster form body densely encrusted with clusters of small applied flowers arranged to resemble snowballs. Green vine-like stems and leaves wind around the surface, adding depth to the composition. The bodies are raised on spreading circular bases decorated with the same clustered blossoms and foliage. Pierced sections with latticework detail are present, incorporating floral sprays and framing small enclosed bird cages, each containing a modeled bird within. Applied birds are positioned throughout the vases, with lifelike natural coloration. Among them, bright yellow orioles with black wings and orange beaks, gray and black small birds, and reddish-brown finches with striped wings are depicted perched on branches or atop the covers. The lids are removable and are likewise encrusted with blossoms and vines, surmounted by perched songbirds. The combination of encrusted floral ground, modeled foliage, and naturalistic birds creates a richly detailed surface characteristic of Meissen’s snowball...

This large hand-painted charger was made by Mintons Art Pottery Studio of Kensington Gore, London. The studio traces its origins to the renowned earthenware and fine bone china factory Minton, located in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire England. Colin Minton Campbell, descendant of founder Thomas Minton, took over company management in 1858 and went on to establish Mintons Art Pottery Studio in 1871 for the purpose of hand decorating pottery and tiles. The studio initially operated under the direction of painter and book illustrator William Stephen Coleman and drew upon the talents of artists studying at the Kensington's National Art Training School, now known as the Royal College of Art, as well as those of well-regarded Continental artists. The company was short lived as it was destroyed by an accidental fire in 1875 and was not rebuilt. This large earthenware charger has been hand-painted in polychrome enamel and depicts two young children at play in the nursery. The scene includes multiple colors and textures and features a cherubic toddler seated upon a bed alongside a young girl standing on a blue footstool...
