An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver comprehensive Albert pattern flatware service for twenty-four persons; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection. The pieces of this exceptional, antique Victorian sterling silver canteen of cutlery for twenty-four persons have been crafted in the Albert pattern. The anterior and posterior surfaces of each rococo inspired, King's shape handle are embellished with scrolling leaf ornamentation. The heel and shoulders of each piece are embellished with further scrolling decoration. The fundamental pieces of this impressive antique London silver service were crafted by William and Elizabeth Eaton, with the sugar sifter, butter knife and pastry fork made by Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater. These impressive examples of antique silverware are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing. As is the case with most services made by London silversmiths in the Victorian era, this flatware set is a superior gauge and quality; as to be expected by these renowned silversmiths. Such services, with twenty-four place settings, are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition This antique Albert pattern canteen of cutlery is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver, as to be expected of these makers. This is a superb Ironstone Sauce Tureen, complete with lid , made by Mason's of Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, during the early part of the 19th century, circa 1820. This tureen is well potted and is hexagonal in shape with moulded animal head handles to the base and a flower head knob to the lid. The pattern is called "Water Lily" and is a well known Mason's pattern, as illustrated on pages 136 in The Mason's collectors Club book " A Guide to Mason's patent Ironstone patterns, c 1813 to c 1848" . This particular piece is the gilded version of the pattern and has heavily applied hand gilded highlights. Tureens of the same shape and period are illustrated on Pages 145 and 155 of Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares published by the Antique Collectors' Club. The pattern is beautifully hand painted over a printed pattern with bold enamels of Cobalt Blue, burnt orange, green, puce all in various shades with much additional hand gilding. The pieces are unmarked as was often the case if the item had formed part of a large dinner or desert service...

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver fruit serving set, boxed, an addition to our dining silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver fruit serving set consists of a pair of fruit serving / berry spoons and a pair of grape shears. Each piece has exceptional scrolling leaf decorated handles, accented with paralleling incurved borders, in addition to bright cut engraved geometric detailing. The posterior surface of each piece is plain and unembellished. The serving/berry spoons have elongated, rounded bowls embellished with exceptional chased floral and scrilling leaf ornamentation amidst bead borders; the outer rim of each spoon has a crimped finish. The interior of each silver spoon bowl retains the original gilding. The fine pair of antique Victorian sterling silver grape shears has a hinged scissor action. The handles of the grape scissors reflect the identical ornamentation of that to the spoons, in addition to bright cut engraved rounded fingerpieces.
