Inspired by a Saturn moon, this beautiful spherical wrought iron structure is wrapped with our traditional silk passementerie. With ten candle lights, it is embellished at the top by three decreasing rings and includes a lavish tassel at the bottom. Custom sizes available.The art of passementerie dated back to the 15th century, the excitement and popularity of the craft surged in the 18th century during the reign of Louis the XIV and Versailles, every pieces of fabrics, upholstery, bridles, carriages were beautified with the uses of braids, tassles, trims and fringes. The military also took a liking to this trend throughout the ensuing decades.
Unlike many other tradeguilds which fell into oblivion, the passementerie has thrived and remains present in the home with detailed trims but specially in the haute couture runways.

Rare and important “Male and Female Torso” table lamps in Hydro Stone plaster on patinated bronze bases by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed "PK LaVerne" on both bases). These table lamps have been finished with a patina that makes them look like excavated sculptures and are very impressive. As many of the LaVerne's pieces reference historical civilizations, these reference ancient Greek and Roman sculptures. New custom shades provided by Lobel Modern. These have been newly rewired with new bronze sockets and silk cord. There is a switch on the back of each lamp which turns both sockets on and off at the same time.
