A vintage Mid-Century modern pair of Italian table lamps, model Alfa are made of hand blown Murano glass, designed by Sergio Mazza and produced by Artemide, in good condition. The slightly smoked round shades of the desk lights are enhanced by a brass ring with a polished knob, featuring a two light socket. The base is made of hand crafted polished Rosewood. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1959 - 1960, Pregnana Milanese, Italy.

Sergio Mazza is an Italian designer, born in 1931, in Milan, Italy. In 1955, Mazza opened his own business and since 1961 he stared working with G. Gramigna in the Smc study.
Artemide is an Italian design-oriented manufacturer, founded in 1960, in Pregnana Milanese, Italy by the Italian engineer Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza. The company Artemide is well-known for their excellent design, for example the Tizio desk lamp designed by the German industrial designer Richard Sapper. Many well-known designers and architects have worked together with the company, such as the Swiss architect Mario Botta, the English architect Sir Norman Foster any many others. This fantastic stoneware table lamp was made in Muncie, Indiana by the talented team of Jim Wishon and Jerry Harrell. The lamp was thrown by Wishon and has an ovoid form with a cylindrical neck resembling that of a bottle. The piece features three large groupings of wheat stalks which were carved by Harrell. The lamp is finished in neutral beige hues with the carved decoration executed in a deeper shade of brown. The piece is signed by both artisans at the back near the cord along with the location of their Muncie Indiana workshop. The felt-lined foot is 6" in diameter and the body is approximately 10" across as measured at its widest point.
The lamp comes with a pleated fabric drum shade manufactured by Kichler. As seen in the accompanying photographs the neutral color of the fabric complements the glaze on the lamp while enabling the darker carved...

The tall vase of elegant rouleau shape, with a straight neck and body, slightly tapered food, and everted mouth. Crafted in the cloisonne technique upon a copper ground, the silver wires stand out and shimmer against the bright turquoise enamel ground. An ebullient design of blossoming peony (botanical) and morning glory (asago) graces the body of the vase. The large and heavy blooms of white peony especially striking and contrasting nicely with the more delicate and almost shy pastel morning glory blossoms hiding behind the large leaves.
The cloisonne enamels especially well done within the silver cloisons, with the leaves and flowers displaying masterful shading. The foot decorated with a geometric and floral border.
