Louis XVI Medallion Armchair, Handcrafted in France – Beechwood

Located in Pontaubault, NORMANDIE

A timeless French dining set inspired by the Louis XVI period, composed of four medallion side chairs and two matching armchairs. Each piece is entirely handcrafted in France from solid beechwood, hand-carved and hand-finished according to traditional cabinetmaking methods. The oval medallion back, fluted legs and sculpted details reflect the elegance of 18th-century Parisian style, reinterpreted with modern comfort and precision. Upholstered in a refined French fabric, each chair can also be covered with the client’s own material or with alternative fabrics proposed by Maison Gontier. Available in several wood tones — cherry, oak or custom finish — and in three patinas: Décorateur, “Demi-antiquaire” and “Brocante”. Custom lacquer colors are also offered; the Gontier color chart can be viewed among the images. Dimensions: Side chair – H 96 cm (37.8 in) × W 48 cm (18.9 in) × D 53 cm (20.9 in). Armchair – H 88 cm (34.6 in) × W 57 cm (22.4 in) × D 60 cm (23.6 in). Seat height 45 cm (17.7 in). All pieces are made to order and covered by Maison Gontier’s 5-year warranty, reflecting the quality and durability of true French craftsmanship. A subtle dialogue between classical heritage and contemporary artistry, these Louis XVI medallion chairs...

Pair of Frank Gehry for Knoll “Hat Trick” Bentwood Armchairs, USA, 1996
Pair of Frank Gehry for Knoll “Hat Trick” Bentwood Armchairs, USA, 1996

Pair of Frank Gehry for Knoll “Hat Trick” Bentwood Armchairs, USA, 1996

By Knoll

Located in Morristown, NJ

Designed by Frank Gehry for Knoll, these Hat Trick armchairs exemplify Gehry’s radical rethinking of structure, material, and form at the intersection of architecture and furniture design. Executed in laminated bent maple, each chair is composed as a rhythmic assemblage of curving wood ribbons: a vertically slatted, crown-like backrest rises above a generously proportioned seat, while integrated armrests flow seamlessly into an expressive base formed by entwined legs and stretchers. The visual language is unmistakably Gehry—dynamic, deconstructed, and sculptural—yet resolved with ergonomic intelligence and functional clarity. Originally introduced in the mid-1990s, the Hat Trick series emerged from Gehry’s long-standing interest in bending conventional materials to their physical and aesthetic limits. Much like his architectural work, these chairs foreground process and structure, allowing the construction itself to define the final form. The result is furniture that reads as inhabitable sculpture, equally compelling in a domestic interior, architectural setting, or design-forward commercial space. Both chairs retain original Knoll underside branding, including “Made in USA” stamp, printed Gehry signature, and date mark 1/19/96, confirming authenticity and period manufacture. Offered as a matched pair, they present a rare opportunity to acquire an important example of late-20th-century American design by one of the most influential architects of our time. Ideal for a design-forward residential interior, these Frank Gehry for Knoll Hat...

Laredo Armchair, 3-Legged Contemporary Ergonomic Design w/Traditional Joinery

By Peter Glassford

Located in San Antonio, TX

Influences from Mexico, Japan and Stickley are rendered in solid wood using traditional tongue and groove joinery. This sculptural 3-legged contemporary armchair is comfortable because the high arms ergonomically support the body above a 14-high seat. First made by the designer in Laredo, Texas studio in 1994, they are now made to order in Guadalajara, Mexico as signed editions. These chairs are made from Rosa Morada wood and finished with several coats of matte lacquer and wax. The finish will withstand covered outdoor conditions, avoiding direct sunlight and water. Rosa Morada trees grow from central Mexico down through tropical Central America and are sustainably harvested by permit and then kiln dried to 10%. Bio: Peter Glassford was born in Texas where he graduated with a degree in Sculpture from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently he lives in Guadalajara, Mexico with his wife Isabel Moncada, a lighting designer. Together, they founded Glassford Moncada...
