A handsome wingback lounge chair and matching ottoman made by Old Hickory Tannery in Hickory, North Carolina, for the King Ranch Saddle Shop, Austin, Texas. The chair features a soft fabric with a tribal kilim rug style or Southwest style print in the manner of George Smith Furniture, England. The hardwood chair frame features a high arched wingback form with broad rolled English arms, a loose seat cushion, turned front peg legs, and hand-applied brass-tack nailhead trim following the arms and lower apron. The ottoman is finished with a matching nailhead trim and upholstery, having turned wooden legs. The chair and ottoman are both upholstered in a richly patterned tribal kilim rug style woven textile with bold geometric tribal designs, including diamonds, zig-zags, triangular patterns, and banded borders finished in brick red, burgundy, camel, black, and olive tones. The chair and ottoman are very comfortable and plush. The ottoman measures 31" wide, 22" deep and 14" tall. Sold as a pair. The chair and ottoman are sturdy and strong with solid joinery and construction in exceptional condition. The fabric has an intentionally aged and faded patina like a vintage Kilim rug. This lounge chair and ottoman benefits from having a Kilim style fabric that is softer and more luxurious than the stiff uncomfortable furniture crafted from actual vintage rugs using thick antique wool fabric...
