An important and rare pair of original French Art Deco period cubist arm chairs of simple and very elegant design. The warm brown finished rosewood is exceptionally well-figured and trimmed with a thin nickeled bronze decorative banding all around the base and overall. Since these chairs are finished on all three sides, they can be placed freestanding in the middle of a room featuring a beautiful back. Antique hob nails as welting surround the caramel colored upholstered leather. Futuristic, clean and architectural lines grace this pair of side chairs and read like art but are made for everyday use and enjoyment. The listed price includes one chair, and we have four chairs available for purchase. The frames of these chairs are composed of nickel-plated steel rods that are welded together, and the seats are upholstered in a rust orange geometrically patterned fabric. Each chair measures 25.5 inches long, 36.25 inches wide, and is 30.25 inches tall. Their seat height is 18.5 inches. No labels remain, and these look to have been reupholstered at some point.
