About the Item

This is a rare settee crafted by George Nakashima circa late 1950s, acquired from the family of the original owners. This is an iconic example of the slatted series, which in many cases was intended to be seen from the back side. This particular example is the three seater and is constructed from solid walnut. The finish is in nice condition and has recently been re-oiled by a master woodworker. The upholstery is in nice usable condition, though could also be a candidate for reupholstery if desired. Specifically, this was acquired from the son of the original purchasers. The settee is unsigned, though a document is attached from the family that purchased it noting the year it was purchased (1954) and that it is unsigned, which was typical for pieces from this era. Since the name of the original owners is known, the order card from Mira should be available since they have kept their original order records. We also have a matching lounge chair with arms, which came from the same original owner. The price listed includes the settee only. The settee measures 72 inches long by 30 inches tall and 35 inches deep. Genuinely faulty goods will be replaced or money refunded on a case by case basis, however we must be advised of any faulty goods upon receipt of the item. It is the customer's responsibility to pay for return shipping and ship the item back to us. If the item is found to be faulty, we will also refund the postage cost. If there is no damage to the item, but a return is approved, the buyer will be responsible for both the initial and return shipping cost. It is at our discretion to refuse the refund of undamaged goods. If an order is placed and you would like to cancel the order, please notify us immediately. Any refunds will be processed via the same means that payment was made.
