A French pair of rocaille carved, serpentine wall consoles with marble tops from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. These antique tables from France have a robust, serpentine-shape, with original marble tops above the wood frames that are elaborately carved in a rocaille aesthetic motif throughout their shapely bodies. The backside is flat and meant to attach to the wall, and supported at front side by two legs. The c-scrolled legs are braced with a cross-stretcher bar, which is adorned with a center with exaggerated shell and foliate scrollwork. This antique porcelain mantel clock demonstrates the 19th century nostalgia for the delicately elegant decorative arts under King Louis XV, also known as the Rococo style.
