This sophisticated pair of églomisé brass and glass end tables embodies the timeless glamour of mid-century French luxury design. Inspired by the celebrated work of Maison Jansen and other elite Parisian decorating houses of the 1940s through the 1970s, these elegant two-tier tables seamlessly combine refined brass construction with beautifully aged verre églomisé mirrored glass, creating an exceptional balance of classical form and understated sophistication. Their clean architectural lines and luxurious materials allow them to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors with effortless grace. Each table is meticulously constructed with a brass frame featuring slender cylindrical legs terminating in delicate ball feet and capped with matching brass finials at each corner. The restrained geometry reflects the influence of French Neoclassical design while maintaining the simplicity that made Maison Jansen furniture so highly sought after by collectors, interior designers, and prestigious residences throughout the twentieth century. The defining feature of these remarkable tables is their stunning églomisé glass surfaces. Verre églomisé is a centuries-old decorative technique in which gold or silver leaf, painted decoration, or mirrored finishes are applied to the reverse side of glass, creating extraordinary depth and luminous visual interest. On these tables, both the upper and lower shelves feature beautifully antiqued mirrored glass panels framed with delicate geometric borders. The naturally developed patina, with its subtle oxidation and cloud-like variations, lends each surface tremendous character while enhancing the romantic elegance associated with antique mirrored furnishings. Unlike newly manufactured mirrored furniture, the aged églomisé glass possesses a richness and authenticity that cannot be artificially replicated. Every variation in the mirrored finish tells the story of decades of graceful aging, resulting in surfaces that reflect light softly while contributing warmth and texture to an interior. The beautifully distressed appearance has become one of the most desirable characteristics among collectors of fine decorative furniture. The brass framework has acquired a mellow, golden patina that complements the antiqued mirror beautifully. Rather than exhibiting a highly polished finish, the brass displays the soft luster expected from quality vintage pieces, highlighting the careful craftsmanship and allowing the materials themselves to become the focal point. The elegant proportions, balanced construction, and restrained ornamentation make these tables remarkably versatile in a wide variety of decorating styles. Ideal as end tables flanking a sofa, beside a pair of lounge chairs, or serving as sophisticated bedside tables, these versatile pieces also function beautifully in an entryway, library, formal living room, or luxurious dressing room. The lower shelf provides additional space for displaying decorative objects, books, art glass, or fine porcelain while maintaining the open and airy appearance created by the slender brass supports. Their classic French styling allows them to blend effortlessly with Louis XVI, Directoire, Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Art Deco, Contemporary, and Transitional interiors. Whether paired with upholstered seating, antique case pieces, or modern furnishings, these tables introduce elegance without overwhelming a space. Condition is very good overall, exhibiting age-appropriate wear consistent with vintage brass and églomisé furniture...
