La Scomparsa - Ancient Architectural Arched Doorways Leading to Lush Landscape
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
Meticulously rendered stone archways lead to a marsh complete with water birds in Carol Pylant's stunning architectural painting entitled "La Scomparsa". The pristine space suggest inner solitude and peace. This calm continues through the archway and into the misty landscape beyond the walls tricking the viewer into questioning what exactly they are observing. The artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy, Spain and throughout Europe with memories of her childhood home in North Carolina. The artwork is framed in a silver wooden frame measuring 32 x 32 inches. Carol S. Pylant La Scomparsa oil on panel 30h x 30w in 76.20h x 76.20w cm CSP043 Resume Artist / Emeritus Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison Education 1979 M.F.A. Mars on Earth, Michigan - Black & White Photo of A Sparse Snow Covered Landscape
By Kirill Polevoy
Located in Chicago, IL
The harsh, grim landscape of the surface of mars is the subject of Kirill Polevoy's black and white photograph entitled "Mars on Earth, Michigan". By bringing the angle of the photo down to the ground, there is an even greater sparseness to the stark landscape. Yet with a closer look, we see the boulders and sand are actually melted snow piles. This large format photograph is unframed. Please contact the gallery for framing options. Kirill Polevoy Mars on Earth, Michigan archival pigment print 60h x 40w in 152.40h x 101.60w cm 1/20 KIP034 “Through a black and white lens, hidden stories of everyday objects become apparent. The juxtaposition of strong light and dark shadows transform and illuminate detail that would otherwise be dismissed. Diminutive elements become rich in meaning allowing compositions to effortlessly evolve. As I attempt to uncover the hidden truth of the world around me, I am inevitably mesmerized by it and I hope you will be too.” A self-taught photographer, Kirill Polevoy, first started making photographs with an old Russian film camera...

Lichtenstein's OHH. .ALRIGHT - Pop Art Ode to Roy Lichtenstein Ceramic Sculpture
By Sandy Kaplan
Located in Chicago, IL
Roy Lichtenstein's works were often inspired by comic characters. They were angsty women, often appearing to be in distress. In this particular work, a beautiful, fraught woman with a furrowed brow grasps a telephone in both hands as she says "Ohh ... Alright ..." Lichtenstein lets us imagine the back story - and what might happen next. Kaplan's sculpture is a direct reference to this Lictenstein's iconic pop art painting of 1964. Inverted Kayla - Original Drawing - Charcoal and Chalk on Tinted Paper
By Christopher Ganz
Located in Chicago, IL
Christopher Ganz Inverted Kayla 2021 Charcoal and chalk on toned paper 24h x 18w in 60.96h x 45.72w cm CG0076 -ARTIST STATEMENT- I depict my person in multiplicity with different selves representing dramatis personae. My likeness is both implicit and symbolic in the portrayal of my narrative; the drama involved in creating art and the artist’s role in society. I use realism to invite the viewer into mysterious inner worlds that are layered reflections of the outer. Dehumanizing environments are imbued with art historical references as a critique of power structures. The artist is an Everyman who is at odds with society and his self. Visually my work is a celebration of society’s dark undercurrents and its overlooked absurdities. I use charcoal and printmaking media as their tenebrous values add a fitting metaphor. The nuances of light and shadow seduce viewers into a world their better judgment would have them avoid. This provokes a sense of disquietude that causes viewers to assess our world through the austerity of a colorless, yet not humorless, light. -BIO- Christopher Ganz grew up in Northeast Ohio and from early on had a fertile imagination and an interest in art. Christopher's artistic education truly began at the University of Missouri, where his love of the human form led to many figure drawing classes and his exposure to the wonders of printmaking. Christopher's then went onto graduate school at Indiana University and a summer abroad program in Italy was a dream realized. Christopher then grasped charcoal with a renewed vigor and large, sfumato-laden drawings ensued. Christopher's artistic influences are many; from a seminal exposure to Dore's engravings of the Divine Comedy, to Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Goya, and up to Lucian Freud, Mark Tansey, and Michael Mazur. Christopher is now an associate professor of printmaking and drawing at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Christopher drawings are represented by Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago, and he shows his prints across the nation. -CV- EDUCATION MFA 2001 Printmaking Indiana University-Bloomington BFA 1995 Drawing and Printmaking University of Missouri-Columbia TEACHING/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2002-13 Associate Professor, Printmaking and Drawing Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Fort Wayne, IN 2002 Adjunct Professor: Lithography (instructor of record) Indiana University-Bloomington 1998-00 Associate Instructor: Beginning Drawing (instructor of record) Indiana University-Bloomington 1998 Artist’s Assistant, Assisted Distinguished Professor Emeritus Rudy Pozzatti in the production of an intaglio edition, Bloomington, IN SOLO OR SMALL GROUP EXHIBITIONS 2013 Multiplicities: Drawings and Prints by Christopher Ganz, Franklin College, Franklin, IN Feb. 5 – Feb. 21 2012 Dramatis Personae: Drawings and Prints by Christopher Ganz, University of South Carolina-Columbia, Jan 16. – Feb. 16, 2012 2011 Christopher Ganz; Prints and Drawing Hendrix College, Hendrix, Arkansas, March 5 - 18 2009 Fall Season Exhibition, six drawings displayed Ann Nathan Gallery, Chicago.
