An original one of a kind palette knife abstract landscape. Warm autumnal tones and gentle texture. Bright and vivid colors with copper and golden which shine beautifully as the light moves across the room. Professional acrylics on a high- quality 400 g/m² linen loose canvas. I apology for the quality of the picture as the artwork is not stretched on any frame and it is the huge size it was impossible to make it 100% flat. There is plenty of room left for framing ( stretching onto deep edge frame ) Due to multiple layers various rise to the surface if looked from different angles. The size of the canvas is 222 x 170 cm The size of the actual painting is 203x 157 cm After you have it stretched by any local framer onto a deep edge blind frame the size should be 191 x 145 cm. It has somehow been my guide. In the last four years, during the making of this work, that connection intensified as I started writing short stories and flash fiction while taking online classes. And what they do have in common is a desire to encapsulate and distill a single moment, a story, about the complexity of our emotions and experiences. At the heart of my work is the recurring depiction of perseverance, strength of will, and a subtle optimism. Symbolically through the objects, precarious situations depict a moment of possible difficulty, often involving the influence of nature. A paper crane left in the snow. Based in Chicago, IL, contemporary artist Michael Thompson creates unique kites, collages and mixed media works assembled from material fragments of past and present collected in his travels. In his ongoing series of memory jugs, Thompson adorns stoneware vessels with a kaleidoscope of ceramic shards, found objects, and pocket-sized trinkets he collected over the course of his life. Also known as forget-me-not jugs or spirit jars, memory jugs are African American folk art objects that honor a loved one who has recently passed. Small tokens and mementos of the deceased are gathered and affixed to the exterior of a jug or vase, an abundance of memories that celebrates a life lived to the fullest. Michael Thompson applies this tradition to his own practice, creating tactile assemblages of this and that. Formed in the manner of collage, each jug honors the lost memories of generations past and his own memories of personally discovering each item. When I saw these "scraps" sitting together there was a visual harmony that suggested a new use for them.
